Morning all! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just finishing my first cuppa of the day, in my conservatory spot, with dd2! I'll put the kettle on for a coffee in a minute, before I go out with the washing to hang.

Dd1's up and about already - she bought a resale Wolf Alice ticket for £20, yesterday. There was only one at that price & I have work tomorrow (with loads I want to get done!) so she's going solo 😥. Gutted, but could not manage 2am flixbus to Sheffield, train home, and straight to work so probably for the best there was just the one.

I think I'll get out in the garden for a few hours today - it's been too hot out there & it's starting to look a touch jungle-ey. I also still need to find a small gift for my current teacher - supply I don't know well if anyone has any useful suggestions?

No idea what's for tea - I did ask dd2 to get a chicken out to defrost but it's still in the freezer & I'm not sure it'll defrost 🤔. Maybe quiche tonight, chicken dinner tomorrow evening. I might take a wander to the shop for some ice cream to go with the crumble my friend's dad gave me & we can have that for afters.

After that, showers all round & early night for me, ready for the last week of term 🥳.

What about all of you? 🙂

Good morning @lucysmam , I’ve been up for three hours and I’m done!
I’ve watered all my pots and the hanging basket, hung out two loads of washing, dusted and tidied the bedroom, made a batch of flapjacks and tidied the kitchen. There’s a cooked chicken breast for dinner with sautéed potatoes and salad, lemon cheesecake to follow.
I need a coffee; I had avocado on toast for breakfast with my cup of tea but it’s time for another cup!
I’m well out of touch re present for your colleague, I tend to fall back on nice chocolates or something like organic handwash or artisan soap. Highly unoriginal and probably eye-rolling all round on here but that’s what I would like!

Palegreenstars · 12/07/2026 09:22

Morning,

im having tea in bed with my book (well and my phone). DD is away at camp so have had a busy weekend of hiking and swimming and late night football.

Ill relax today, read, puzzle, clean the house and do some summer holiday planning before getting her later.

She’ll be exhausted but we have plans to watch The Hobbit later having just introduced her to Lord of The Rings.

oh and I’ve just remembered I’ve an iced coffee in the fridge!

Iamnotaloggrip · 12/07/2026 09:30

Late start here after we stayed up for the football last night. Kids are still in bed and I’ve only been up half an hour - unheard of! I’m in the garden, just finished a coffee and contemplating another.

DD has football later but I think that’s it today. Will try to keep DS off his screens, must think of something we can do together as I think DP is planning to take DD. Would be nice to watch the Wimbledon men’s final but let’s see.

Moroccan lamb for dinner, with homemade flatbreads. Have a lovely day everyone!

inkgirl · 12/07/2026 09:32

Was up at 5am to go to a car boot sale with my boyfriend. He's currently cooking me breakfast, then I'm off home as my kids get dropped off this afternoon

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 12/07/2026 09:34

Good morning lucysmam and others. I've had 2 coffees, a tea and 2 slices of toast and I'm currently scrolling. The sun is attempting to break through cloud- we had rain most of yesterday- so I might weed. The garden is in a terrible state and badly needs weeding but it will be remodelled next month, so I keep putting it off. Im going to make gooseberry fool for later and use my new hoover again. Dinner might be salad or something with mince, I haven't decided. Enjoy your day all.

Hedjwitch · 12/07/2026 09:37

Still in bed. Another day to get through after DHs death last week.( sorry to bring thread down). Will try and get out for a walk or potter in the garden.

frozendaisy · 12/07/2026 09:40

Morning
Clearly drank a little too much wine during the stressful yes stressful quarter final yesterday and now need a plan for Wednesday

still have an additional teen in the building so will make a full English shortly

virtually no chores here and don’t know what’s for dinner meh the rest can help no motivation

as it’s hot and people are spending lots of time in the shower right now how about shower gel for present? Or some pretty water glasses?

Tiddlywinks63 · 12/07/2026 09:40

@Hedjwitch I am so sorry, I hope you find some solace in your garden 🤗🙏

lucysmam · 12/07/2026 09:44

Oh @Hedjwitch, please don't apologise. I'm so very sorry to read about your DH 💐.

So sorry @Hedjwitch - hope you manage a walk today, can be quite good for clarity and just a bit of escapism. Also hope you have a support network around you 💐

morning to you all, I went for a swim this morning (the lake is 25° and almost too warm for a comfortable long swim!) and am now showered and ready for the day.
boys are out at ds cricket match, I might take a trip to M&S to have a clothes browse.
dc1 stayed at her boyfriends last night but has said she is commandeering the washing machine today as she’s going on holiday tomorrow! Fortunately thanks to this lovely weather my own basket is pretty much empty.

might suggest a walk this afternoon to anyone who’s about. Dh will cook dinner this evening, haven’t decided what we’ll have yet but will depend on if dd and boyfriend are staying here tonight.

Thislittlekitten · 12/07/2026 09:53

Good Morning Squad

@Hedjwitch I am so sorry to hear of your loss. You can only take 1 day at time and at your own pace. You should go to your garden and try to take some time for yourself.

I’ve just had tea and bacon roll. About to take the dog for a big walk.

I have a friend coming over for lunch so need to do a quick tidy of the living room.

I am exhausted, I keep waking through the night. I’m too warm, though I don’t have the heatwave here you guys have. I’d honestly not cope. I’m sure I experienced a hot flush the other day for the first time so sure I’m peri menopausal which is great.

After friends visit I’ve a few errands to run then some essay work. I might try a wee nap. Want to finish my book too.

Tea will be a light affair after lunch. DH is making a feast for us.

Rainbow1235 · 12/07/2026 10:01

Good morning lucysmam and to u all . I’m so sorry to hear loss of your husband so very sad . Lucysmam how about a nice candle for your teacher friend I love when I get gifted a candle . I’m sat out with a cuppa then we getting the pool out as got all family down today so will be fun but manic . Have a great and safe day all 🫶

weegiemum · 12/07/2026 10:21

Last day of our holiday today, heading back to Glasgow tomorrow. We’ve been at our other/holiday home for 10 days, used to live here and will be moving back once the dc are all settled in their own place. So we’re not exactly tourists, of which there are many this year! The sun has finally decided to come out in the Outer Hebrides so I will be sitting in the garden going precisely nowhere because the beautiful beaches are overrun with tourists at the weekend.
Dh is going to make a cooked breakfast when he gets up (a tradition on our last day) so won’t need lunch today! Going to visit a friend this afternoon about 15 mins away. I will knit some more - knitting for our first grandchild due in September- and read more of my book, Margaret Atwood’s autobiography.
Hope everyone has a lovely day!

JingsMahBucket · 12/07/2026 10:21

Morning Sunday crew! @lucysmam you can pull the chicken out of the freezer and put it on the counter (on a plate!) to defrost. It'll be ready to go by 4pm or so.

@Hedjwitch so sorry to hear about your husband's passing. Do all the good things for yourself including pottering around if that helps you. Sending you un-sweaty hugs. 💐

I woke up naturally around 7:15am this morning, got up to open the living room window to let the cool air in and have been variously laying in bed reading or discussing the news with OH since. I'm feeling rather slow and sluggish this morning. I think ate too much sugar and carbs yesterday along with running about and overheating. I need to rehydrate today even though I had loads of water yesterday and a nice shower before bed too.

Anyway! Once I drag my ass out of bed in a bit, I'll likely eat a cold salad for breakfast then start working on a client design project again. There's loads of laundry to put away and I want to get another bedding load done too. I'll sort pills for the week and maybe do a bit of meal prep. Dinner tonight will be air fryer BBQ chicken drumsticks and various cold salads to accompany them. Watermelon or other fruit for dessert too.

Try to have a cool and safe Sunday everyone x.

weegiemum · 12/07/2026 10:24

@Hedjwitch I missed your post while typing mine. So sorry for the loss of your husband xx

GameOfJones · 12/07/2026 10:26

Morning all. I'm so sorry to hear about your DH @Hedjwitch. It's so recent so please don't feel like there are any expectations to do anything. Getting through one day at a time at the moment sounds like the right approach for right now. I hope you have support.

It's a slower morning for us as we were up late last night for the football. DDs didn't get up until 9am.... unfortunately I was still up as usual at 7am as I felt headachey and rough. I think I'm starting to get really bad reactions to sugar. I'd had no alcohol and lots of water but we had chocolate and sweets watching England play Norway which is far later than I usually eat. I almost feel hungover this morning!

Anyway, I've organised the fridge ahead of the food shop coming, have emptied the dishwasher and have had two coffees and lots of water. We've just had crumpets with bacon and avocado for brunch.

DD1 is having a playdate with a friend this afternoon so we'll probably take DD2 into town for a potter round the shops to get out of the house. It's 29c here today and noticeably cooler than it has been..... I never thought I'd see the day when 29 felt fine but I suppose we've acclimatised a bit to the heat! I fancy an hour or two in the garden with my book and DDs have to do some homework.

No idea what's for dinner tonight. We raided the freezer for dinner last night and had a very random mix so we're running quite low. Main food shop tomorrow so we just have to make do. I may pick something up at M&S in town for dinner but I've no idea what I fancy. I've barely cooked all week as it's been so hot.... we've mainly been surviving on cold, ready to eat food out of the fridge so my mind has gone blank in terms of meal ideas 🤣.

piefacedClique · 12/07/2026 10:26

I’m an examiner for GCSE papers and this is the first day since the beginning of May where Inhavent had to wake up to mark exam papers! I have completed my allocations! 4 different papers completed! 27k questions and 150 portfolios!

I am drinking coffee, watching Sunday Brunch and making a cheesecake! Heaven!

Mydogisagentleman · 12/07/2026 10:30

@Hedjwitch sorry for your loss, be kind to yourself.
Up at 04.30, was absolutely starving hungry due to my friend underfeeding me last night.
Took the dog for a lovely cool stroll, hung out the washing and showered.
Left for work at 7 and am half way through my visits.
Should be home by 1.30, little nap and then I think I'll take the dog to the beach and have some chips.

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 12/07/2026 10:32

hedjwitch I'm so sorry to hear about the death of your husband. Be kind to yourself. I hope you have support in real life

gingercat02 · 12/07/2026 10:33

@Hedjwitch so sorry for your loss, look after yourself Flowers
Today is a getting jobs done Sunday., changing beds, washing, bit of gardening, repotting some house plants.
I'm slightly hung over as we were out last night and got back just as extra time started, so decided more wine was a good idea. It wasn't!
Waiting to hear from DS about his flight home. Its due at 11pm so hopefully won't be delayed.
Fish for tea, as its just me and DH.

Woofwoofwoff · 12/07/2026 10:50

Didn’t post last week , but I’m hear this week 😆

a few booktok videos to do . I have been asked to collaborate with a book seller but they are fairly new and I’m not a great fan . I did one video for them and it sold 15 boxsets at £30 each so they are keen , but their commission is poor compared to others (ie 5% not 10%) so I’m probably going to leave it.

few house hold jobs and get ready for Monday (5days to go!)

re your supply- gift voucher (all for one type thing) I remember getting a £30 one from my class one year and was very relieved as it did the food shop that week until payday

Tarkan · 12/07/2026 10:53

Morning Lucysmam and all!

I’ve had an early start today which is very unlike me but I’m heading to Edinburgh to meet my cousin and join in with Pokemon GoFest. My bus there seems to have quite a few others heading there so I think it’s going to be fun.

Judellie · 12/07/2026 10:59

DD and I are on a train to Birmingham NEC for Comic Con.
DS and DH got off at Birmingham New Street en route to Severn Valley Railway.
We’re away this weekend staying in a Travelodge in Rugeley so had a very nice breakfast (Eggs Benedict and fruit) at Wetherspoons en route to the railway station in Rugeley.
Did Cadbury World yesterday as DD had won tickets but I wouldn’t recommend it.
Managed to spill sun cream on my top this morning but it’s so hot the wet patch dried immediately as we walked to Wetherspoons.
Should probably have brought a spare top away with me!

ViciousCurrentBun · 12/07/2026 11:54

Having a vary lazy day after charging about on holiday for a week. We are away in our Motorhome on our 3rd pitch in the Lincolnshire countryside. Had a pitch a 25 minute walk to the sea so swam twice a day over 3 days morning and evening, did a hike round a nature reserve yesterday, dinner out, visited a small museum, BBQ at the site couple of times. Visiting Lincoln tomorrow and then probably Norfolk coast as route planning this afternoon.

Finished reading my book so need to find a replacement. We will be away for 2 more weeks and then DH needs to visit his Mother so I will have a week back home.

legosnowqueen · 12/07/2026 12:04

Good morning all.

@Hedjwitchso sorry for your loss.

All tired today as watched footie. DS watched it at a venue in town but brought a mate back who slept on the sofa…they watched the 2am match too. I was still up early to walk DDog before it got too hot. DS & mate are out, it’s our town’s half-marathon/5k today & there’s an event village near the river. I walked to the bottom of the road to cheer on our former Ukrainian guests’ son who was doing the 5k. I’ve done two loads of washing & am gently tidying the house, which is on the market with a viewing booked in for Tuesday. No other plans - salad for tea I expect. Hope everyone has a relaxing/gentle Sunday.
