Nigella does marmite spaghetti. Maybe gravy has a similar umami effect!

I like pasta with sauces. I suppose gravy is a sauce. Beef and pasta just doesn't go together for me.

Yes my son had this the other day (somewhere local not in Quebec), it sounded disgusting.

I think that in the US they refer to pasta sauce as gravy sometime? If I remember rightly I’ve heard them talking of eating this on the Sopranos and it seems to be they are having tomato sauce on the pasta rather than gravy as we think of it.

Poutine is revolting, I tried it to be polite but no, didn’t work. I can’t imagine pasta, cheese and gravy working either but that said if you were genuinely hungry you would eat it, we are fortunate not to have to got through the cupboards looking for anything to eat

Well made poutine is amazing and you probably don’t need to eat for another 36 h lol; it was a food to fuel lumberjacks. Not too sure about pasta though in lieu of chips/fries. And for poutine it isn’t just any cheese - specifically fresh cheese curds.

One of my favourite dinners ever was in the Caribbean from a little local place - macaroni cheese and they poured a gravy over it which must of been from a stew of some sort - it wasn't your average Bisto, put it that way.
I was thinking about it the other day. I was only young whilst over there, with Mum and Stepdad, otherwise I would have asked.
It's never left me. I'm 50 now!

You lost me at ‘instant gravy’.
But pasta with a couple of spoonfuls of meat juices from a roast is a well known Italian dish. Not thickened gloopy stuff coloured with caramel masquerading as gravy.

It is made with cheese curds. And definitely not pasta!

We used to eat the tinned meatballs in gravy with spaghetti as children. And 20 odd years later it's one of my DSs favourite meals.
