Is pasta, cheese and gravy really a thing???

Apparently it's a known and common dish? Apparently you bike pasta, stir in grated cheese and put over instant gravy??? 🧐🧐🧐🧐

Surely it’s similar to chips, cheese and gravy?

hay5689 · Yesterday 07:59

I know a few people who eat this but I’ve never been tempted.

Sounds great.
I do hope Unilever add it to their delicious Pot Noodle range.

In theory...but the texture of the pasta puts it off for me.

Can't work out what bike pasta is an autocorrect for?

If you like it, have it, if you don't, don't. If you're stupid enough to do it due to a TikTok trend when you don't like it, more fool you.

I wouldn't try it but like poutine or chips and gravy. If I wanted something easy with pasta, I'd just use a jar of sauce.

do Germans not do noodles and gravy?
Spaetzel is a type of egg noodle served along side meat dishes with rich gravy , eventually mixed together. They also do a noodle and cheese dish again eventually mixed with meat and gravy.

IMO pasta with just grated cheese is normal.

With gravy sounds disgusting! Never heard of such a thing.

Lentilcakes · Yesterday 08:29

just thought of poutine, but that’s with chips.

Yes, this is my “girl dinner”. It was very common when I was a teenager.

What's girl dinner?

OvernightBloats · Yesterday 08:39

Could be a thing if you are drunk, you're ravenous and you think it's a good idea to throw together pasta, gravy and cheese because they are the only things available.

Not to be attempted sober.

CloudyWithAChanceOfCustard · Yesterday 08:42

Absofuckinglutely not 🤮

mydogisthebest · Yesterday 08:52

Never heard of it. Sounds absolutely disgusting but then I hate gravy and never eat it

gillefc82 · Yesterday 21:39

I enjoy eating each of those three things listed. Eating them all together in one dish? A unadulterated culinary hate crime, imo.

To slightly misquote the Soccer am saying, “Northern girls love gravy”, and thus as a Scouser, I’d struggle to think of many other foods I wouldn’t happily smother with the stuff…..but cheesy pasta is firmly on that list!

Sounds awful.

Surely the gravy there would be the sauce from something like boeuf bourguignon or coq au vin, not an instant gravy made with granules? Goulash is traditionally served with noodles, I believe, and that would be similar. (No cheese involved, though, if I recall the recipes I've read correctly.)

No. HTH.

LilyBunch25 · Yesterday 22:00

I bloody hope not 🤮

dancingdeidre · Yesterday 22:03

It sounds disgusting, but all sorts of disgusting things seem to have a following.

reptilemad1985 · Yesterday 22:08

I love plain pasta with just grated cheese but no way with gravy

PlumPlumb · Yesterday 22:12

It was a staple in my secondary school in the late 90s. Sometimes they put meatballs in the gravy as well. You could have it on chips, rice or pasta and the cheese on top was optional.

istherereallytimeforallthat · Yesterday 22:14

There are some things you just don't do.

Kippers & jam
Steak & custard
Marmalade & lettuce
Grapes on toast
Weetabix & chips

The pasta, cheese & instant gravy combo needs to be on that list.

Good grief
Absolutely not!!

Themoonisntaballoon · Yesterday 22:17

Sounds like a recipe for next week's lucky heart attack.
