Most obvious solution in the absence of more information.

However knowing myself, I may have snuck a sly dig into the prose. Like I said, I am well aware that there are folk in real life - or even on MN - who would struggle to accept that because they are thick as pigshit, and said so.

End of the day, it's their site:their rules.

People tend to hold overly favorable views of their abilities in many social and intellectual domains... this overestimation occurs, in part, because people who are unskilled in these domains suffer a dual burden: Not only do these people reach erroneous conclusions and make unfortunate choices, but their incompetence robs them of the metacognitive ability to realize it. (Kruger and Dunning 2009.)

Well worth a read, ideally before you go around describing people with whom you disagree (and don't know) as being as thick as pigshit.

You might also bear in mind that social media amplifies this phenomenon.

edit: media amplifies

I saw what you posted. I won't repeat it, naturally as it's been deemed unacceptable by the Gods of MN.

BTW it was not I that reported the deleted post. I was posted that screenshot to allow us all to speculate (!) on what was inappropriate about the post.

(That said, when I report a post, I never performatively inform the thread I've done it.)

Just to be clear, I have no problem with anyone who disagrees with me on a rational reasoned basis. They may even change my mind.

However if you disagree with me because you found a meme from 1974, then my determination of your faculties is likely to be negatively impacted.

I concur. I couldn't really see much about what you posted to be deletion worthy.

I mean it wasn't great. But if MN went around deleting all the unhelpful posts they wouldn't have a site anymore. And reddit would probably explode.

pointythings · Yesterday 16:48

I didn't see it, but I think we're all used and immune to @derxa's habit of finger wagging and telling off. Water off a duck's back and all that, not worthy of deletion.

Didn't report you, honestly, despite my reply. Tend towards letting people know if I'm going to report, but only on threads I've started or goady threads that really shouldn't be started.

LittleBowSheep · Yesterday 16:52

Llttledrummergirl · Yesterday 16:30

I just read it, it was "a woman has died and this is how you are talking about it", or words to that effect.

Don't know how that was deleted, it was just Derxa being Derxa. Weird.

Edited

I didn't see the post but have you also been on to the main threads about AW to chastise them @derxa, or is it just us you're having a go at? Again.

Just seen one too. Horrid grey squirrels the import from overseas.

Another reason never to decriminalise it. New York apparently reeks of the smell as well.

Piggywaspushed · Yesterday 17:10

I can confirm that this is true. But so does my garden on occasion! ( disclaimer : it isn't emanating from my garden!) Liverpool does too.

Yes, it's a powerful tool that can allow almost instant X-Ray vision to a poster (by name only, for now). Quite handy for people who are accused of being "a shill".

I really hope this isn't news to anyone on this thread. I mean it's not like the press have somehow been hiding "AI" behind sober responsible journalism is it ?

No, thanks. It'll probably say I mostly post on threads about tacky TV with the occasional foray into political threads ...
