Bonnie has sadly passed away in hospital in Portugal.

Her recognisable gravelly voice shot her to fame and Total Eclipse of the Heart is such a classic 80s power ballad.

Oh no how sad I love Bonnie Tyler. Her songs bring back my 80s teens and my adult son also loves her.
R.I.P Bonnie.
Such a legend x

Lost in France is my favourite ❤️

She had such a brilliant voice.

Oh I'm sorry to hear this. Her music was a part of my 80s youth. What a voice. RIP Bonnie.

How sad 😢

Winefride · Today 10:19

RIP Bonnie and thanks for all the ballads.

BBC reporting that she died unexpectedly as a result of the illness that she was being treated for, while also reporting that in May she was placed into an induced coma after emergency intestinal surgery in Portugal, and that last month, her spokesperson said she was out of the coma but remained "very unwell and in intensive care".

Sounds like a very tough last few months.

Very sad news. DD and I always shout "Sing it Bonnie!" when one of her songs comes in the radio - amazing, distinctive voice. Right up there with the other Queens of the Power Ballads.

The choir I'm in sings Holding Out for a Hero. We'll have to sing it in tribute now.

Thankyou for the music Bonnie ❤️
My favourite was her duet with Shaky
"A rockin' good way ( to mess around and fall in love"
Rest in eternal peace xxx

I’d forgotten that one. She had an amazing voice.

Ah I’m quite shocked. She played a gig at my DH’s work party only a few months ago. Sounds very sudden. How sad.

Victorius19 · Today 10:31

Sounds like she was kept artificially alive for the last few months. Not a nice way to go.

Rest in Peace, Bonnie.

Foundress · Today 10:32

Ah such a shame. RIP Bonnie. Total Eclipse of the Heart my all time favourite power ballad.

What a voice, and what a woman.

RIP to an absolute force of nature.

Mine too! RIP Bonnie

She was wonderfully talented. I hope her family is together to support each other.

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · Today 10:40

Great voice.
I'm surprised that no one has mention Faster Than The Speed Of Night as one of her banging tunes.

FiveShelties · Today 10:42

Amazing voice. Just read her obituary, what a struggle she had in the early years of her career.

Total eclipse of the Heart always played at full volume, just love it.

caefe · Today 10:51

Gutted to hear this sad news. I thought she was recovering after being in intensive care earlier this year. RIP, Bonnie, your voice to Jim Steinman’s words was perfection

PrizedPickledPopcorn · Today 10:52

So many great songs.

Sartre · Today 11:02

Very sad. I remember writing my undergrad dissertation and I had accidentally turned repeat on Apple Music so I was listening to Eclipse of the Heart over and over again but because I was in the zone, I had no idea. Must have listened to it 10 times before I realised! Love that song.

Sweetpeasaremadeforbees · Today 11:08

That's sad news. I loved 'It's a heartache', my DDad always sang 'It's a hard egg' so it reminds me of him.

IdentifyingAsAWoollyMammoth · Today 11:13

It's A Heartache that's for sure. Stunning voice.
