Sleeping on the trampoline

After three amazing nights sleep, I’d like to recommend this option to all parents in a heatwave. Piled a load of pillows on, took my quilt and slept in there with my eight year old. Slept from 11-7 undisturbed, which feels like a minor miracle!

Also, you can take out an eye mask of the sort they used to give out for free on long distance flights (maybe they still do). Then when it gets light, just reach out and put it on.

Does the sun not wake you up at 4/5am

JudesBiggestFan · 27/06/2026 17:34

No, weirdly the light doesn’t wake me at all. Yet it does when I’m asleep in the bedroom and it seeps in through the curtains. I swear it’s just the fresh air!

I slept a night in our garden in the 1976 heatwave. Spiders didn’t have willies in those days

Spiders still don't have willies. They have two bulbs (like little boxing gloves) near their mouths which deliver the sperm. Their balls are in their abdomen and apparently mating is like 'adjusting complex machinery in the dark with an elongated fingernail'.

Do sleep well.

And ringworm from passing through animals.

What??

Honeyhonay · 27/06/2026 17:49

Its not dark here until gone 10:30 and light from 4am, I could never!!

Me and the kids spent a couple of nights outside in hammocks (I’ve got a couple of portable hammock stands). We slept pretty well bar animal noises and the occasional spider. I take the hammock camping too and either push the stand into the tent or under a gazebo - always such a lovely sleep!

Sounds great op. I concur that light doesn’t wake you if you are tired enough, I’m just back from the arctic circle and slept fine there

👍
it’s the increased oxygen

Aw I bet your child will remember that forever 🥰

notanothernamesurely · 27/06/2026 21:37

I slept in the sun lounger 😂

IAmKerplunk · 27/06/2026 23:02

DC and I have done this too. It’s lovely just looking up at the stars. One night it coincided with ISS going over so we had a good laugh imagining conversations they were having up there 😂 I slept really well too! Sadly no trampoline anymore ☹️

AzureCats · 29/06/2026 20:37

I can't sleep outside because either my cat would be lying on top of me all night or screaming through the window to let him join me 😂 can't win!

Did any of you star sleepers see the strawberry moon ?
