Sleeping on the trampoline

JudesBiggestFan · 27/06/2026 11:23

After three amazing nights sleep, I’d like to recommend this option to all parents in a heatwave. Piled a load of pillows on, took my quilt and slept in there with my eight year old. Slept from 11-7 undisturbed, which feels like a minor miracle!

Bliss, hope you got to see the stars

EveryKneeShallBow · 27/06/2026 12:01

Oh yes! That’s a great idea. I’m in Scotland so no heatwave, but I still might have a go at sleeping under the stars. Did you not get dew settling on you in the morning though?

LittleGreenShoots · 27/06/2026 12:03

There are spiders on our trampoline every time we go out... I just couldn't!

I was also wondering about morning damp dew! Also I’d get bitten to death. Plus I don’t like being in the garden when it’s dark, all the spiders come out. Oh, I also no longer have a trampoline 😂
But I’ve heard of a few people who do this when they’re too warm to sleep indoors.
I laid out on my lounger the other night until about 10:30 but then it was dark and I just knew the creepy crawlies would be coming out so I went in.

Lovely OP !

but I came onto the thread thinking you were talking about foxes 🦊
I was hoping for photos

And ringworm from passing through animals.

Most of MN won’t leave washing on the line for fear of it being darked on or spiders rubbing their willies on it. Imagine if they did that to your face! 🕷️ (I’d sleep on a trampoline if I had one!)

NoisyMonster678 · 27/06/2026 13:05

That is a great idea from me 😁

This is what I came to say. You have been darked on, and those spider willies have tickled your eyelashes.

Specialneedsnightmare · 27/06/2026 13:27

I couldn't because of insects

Pudmyboy · 27/06/2026 13:44

I was toying with the idea of sleeping outside but foxes use my garden and I know I would be anointed with their very pungent musk!
I am envious of you @JudesBiggestFan though pleased for you too!

Notmycircusnotmyotter · 27/06/2026 13:47

That sounds wonderful!

Blackcatahotcat · 27/06/2026 13:49

I slept a night in our garden in the 1976 heatwave. Spiders didn’t have willies in those days

AxolotlEars · 27/06/2026 14:34

We usually sleep on our trampoline every year for 'fun'. It isn't 😂 foxes wailing ....I know it's supposed to be barking but the ones near us seem to be having a breakdown! Kids decide they need the loo and feel they can't walk 25ft to the door without waking everyone up.
I'm pleased it worked for you

Hilarious

JudesBiggestFan · 27/06/2026 16:07

There are definitely two schools of thought on this! For further info, I zip the trampoline up so no foxes or other wildlife can climb in! Our dopey cat always climbs in before the zipping up though and sleeps next to me. I love falling asleep under the stars, we lock the gate so no attackers can come in. But I definitely get darked on. And as for spiders…I live in a Victorian house, so I probably have more risk indoors than out!

No due to being eaten alive by insects. It was still sweltering outside at 1am anyway

omghereistrouble · 27/06/2026 16:13

in the middle of our bungalows sort of in a horseshoe shape is a communal grass area. i wonder if i put a camping bed out there and decided to spend the night what on earth would the other people would think?

Surreyblah · 27/06/2026 16:14

My back isn’t up to it, perhaps with a camping mat on top? Would be worried about insect bites and storms.

I'd be more worried about the sun coming up at 4am if I were you!

JudesBiggestFan · 27/06/2026 16:32

No dew at all! And despite the sun coming up at 4, I didn’t wake til 7. Nor did my son or the cat! Despite waking up sooo many times when I sleep indoors. It’s something about the fresh air!

This sounds absolutely glorious. What a wonderful idea. I’m old and I still remember sleeping outside in the garden when I was a child. No tents just sun lounger chairs and sleeping bags. This will be a lovely childhood memory for your DS.

cupfinalchaos · 27/06/2026 17:15

I can’t believe you slept 8 hours never mind on a trampoline! Does the light at 4am not wake you up?

Mycarsmellsoflavender · 27/06/2026 17:26

We put a couple of tents up in the garden last weekend and they’ve been slept in by 2-3 people every night since. We do this every summer when it’s hot - it’s so much more comfortable. We use a double air mattress and also an old single mattress that was surplus, along with our regular sheets, pillows and duvets. If you have a choice of where to pitch the tent, go for the morning shade so you don’t wake up so early.
Last night there was a downpour around 1am so I’m glad I wasn’t on a trampoline.
