Fo we all get it? Even the slim people….?

OP posts:

I consider myself average sized. I’m a size 12. I get the most horrific chafing on my thighs and where my bra sits.

During the last heatwave I had a line straight across my chest from my bra that was bleeding. It’s now a scar, all from chafing.

Forgot to add, I can’t explain how much it hurt but using Sudocream helped.

I believe so, it happens to all shapes and sizes! However I have found these ways to avoid and minimise.

  1. I wear cotton cycling shorts/exercise shorts under dresses and skirts in the summer - I found the chub rub 'shorts' that are made from tights material are no help whatsoever.
  2. I apply roll on deoderant to my inner thighs and under boobs before getting dressed when it's very hot.

I also use deodorant, not the liquid role on ones, the twist up cream ones, inner thighs, cleavage and back. I also occasionally apply it to my face when wearing make up to prevent patchiness.
It’s better than any of the chafing creams/sticks for sale and cheaper

tipsyraven · 24/06/2026 17:53

I’ve just bought some Boody bamboo ones. They are so comfortable and I didn’t feel hot in them.

HoobleDooble · 24/06/2026 18:05

I spent years applying talc, deodorant etc. trying to dry my under boob and groin area but still got horrendously sore. Then about 5 years ago I found that working with it rather than against has stopped the soreness completely. I now make sure I’m completely dry after showering (using a hairdryer if necessary, then just putting a few drops of Bio Oil on the areas. It seriously works.

Daktarin spray for creases and roll on clear deodorant for thighs.

sunshinehappydays · 24/06/2026 18:32

Not sure if I should post here but I don’t think everyone gets it. Nothing rubs together on my body. My boobs are non existent and my thighs don’t meet so no rubbing.

daisychain124 · 24/06/2026 18:33

I used to get it when I was a size 12/14 but now I have dropped 50lbs and don’t get it at all. I can’t believe it after 30 years of suffering! I do know people who are slim who still get it so must depend on your body type.

user293948849167 · 24/06/2026 19:03

I used to get it even when I was a size 8-10, I tend to hold weight on my hips and bum so probably depends on body shape and size

ChoosingMyOwnRandomUsername · 24/06/2026 19:10

Not everyone, no. I've never had it and I walk plenty - and am currently size 16 so no thigh gap here 😂 I've done about 5k today (walking) wearing a dress and no sign of any chafing at all.

lilaccamille · 24/06/2026 19:25

I’m big boobed and big thighed and have never had chubb rub.
Obviously I’m a classic body type for it but never has it affected me.

Canisten or a generic antifungal if it is really bad clears it up quickly.

TheMerlotPenguin · 24/06/2026 19:28

i also use the blue glide stick, lasts all day. It has meant I can wear dresses again comfortably. It says it is for runners, no running here but it works. I have the small stick and it has lasted ages

No. The only time I get chaffing is on long runs like half-marathons and it's usually the sports bra.

Body Glide is great.

lostinmagic · 24/06/2026 19:37

I've had it all my life from a size 8 to a size 16 and every size in between. I invested in some chub rub shorts from snag tights this year and I wish I'd done it sooner they are so good and I don't even feel like I have any on.

HHCrochetDiva · 24/06/2026 21:26

I find Lanacane ointment is great also works a treat on sore shoe rubbing points. But I think it varies from person to person, probably a mix of body shape and how much you sweat.

SusanSometimes · 24/06/2026 21:31

I used to suffer very badly from chub rub but having lost four stone I don't have it any more. I'm still two stone from target so not slim, so it must be to do with body shape.

WonderfulSmith · 24/06/2026 21:35

These long legged knickers. https://amzn.eu/d/0aSwSqee

I tried everything, swore by Body Glide for a long time, but these knickers beat it.

Never had it (I walk a lot!). I’m an 8 now but was a 10-12 after kids and didn’t have it then either.

Pistachiocake · 24/06/2026 21:39

I liked Proskins shorts-thin enough to be cool but genuinely stopped the rub-I always had a bit of muscle on my inner thighs and no big gap. Don't know if they make them now. Mine are from years ago.

Used this for years, it's amazing 😊 I think I got the recommendation on here 😁

blankcanvas3 · 24/06/2026 21:42

I’m a size 8 and I still get it. Just the way our bodies are, I think. Deodorant or talc works
