What to do about cleaner in this heat?

My cleaner travels from the other side of London. She’s due tomorrow. I think probably the right thing to do is tell her she doesn’t need to come and pay her anyway.

But I’m in two minds and interested in what other people are doing?

Do it. We paid ours during lockdown as we didn’t want to lose her and wasn’t her fault she couldn’t come

I worked for very well known multimillionaires in Cheshire during lockdown as a Housekeeper and they didn't pay me. They were really shocked when I left them!

Dear god, your attitude is abhorrent. Training them? They're not a dog. It's not just a bit hot out there and inside is usually hotter than outside. Manual labour in this weather is brutal.

why did your son only work 5 hours?? Surely you should be training him to do a full days work??

hes only 16 and the job is casual with hours that change every week

yes because we're training everyone - especially kids that if there is the slightest bit of difficulty then its worth shirking - no one going into schools, no one going to the office, everyone too overcome with heat to put in a days work: we all expect the nhs to carry on though, and ambulance, fire, police, transport but oh no we're all too precious to do anything - uk is becoming a nation of excuses

Cleaners aren't children though and guess what, I don't need your approval to take time off if I want. If I don't want to graft in 35° heat, then I won't.

@HappyWelsh I completely agree, bat shit. I read some of the comments and thought I hope that these posters are not responsible for the welfare of others in their day job.

For the love of god, me too! Can you imagine that? Imagine being so bitter in life that you go onto a public forum to advise a stranger against doing something incredibly nice for someone else 🤯 they’re crazy!
