Seeing polite, well-dressed young men chatting happily in a café

I'm having lunch in a really nice (not naice) coffee house and bistro. The table just next to us had three guys about 19-20 having lunch together. One white, one black, one Asian. All dressed well, one wearing a Sade retro t-shirt. Sade!! Good conversation which we could hear and not a single swear word. I don't know why this makes me really happy but it does.

I get your pleasure at witnessing this.

I was sat in a cafe last week and a father was sat at the next table chatting away to his little boy who was barely a toddler. Just the two of them. Child wanted something he couldn't have and Dad said something like, very gently and up beat, "well you can't always have what you want in life but let's find something else" . Such a great Dad. Melted my heart after all the justified criticism bad dads get on MN.

It's really depressing that a dad behaving normally is public is commended so much! I bet you wouldn't be so admiring if a mum behaved like that

I feel surprised you are surprised. But maybe that's just because my two teenage sons and their friends are all lovely people!

I mean, yes it was a nice moment. But never make the assumption you know anything about their parenting from a public display

My abusive ex was the most attentive partner and parent in public. He loved to perform being the most perfect thoughtful super parent. Then behind closed doors he was screaming and swearing at us all.

Cafcass were fooled by it though. Fooled by his 10 minute performance of being the perfect MC gentle parent. My children ended up both running away from his house.

Because it is not usually the 19-20 year olds who have problems with other skin colours. That is more likely to be people in their 50s and above

A white, a black and an Asian walk into a cafe...

Are you going to tell us a joke!

I honestly had no idea that men having coffee with friends suggests they're a gay throuple. Is this actually a stereotype that going for coffees means your gay?
