It's warm/hot are you wearing a dress today?

I got up this morning, forecast says warm to hot so went to the wardrobe and picked out a dress and sandals.

I've always done this, dressed for the weather. Do people still do this?

Wearing trousers as I forgot to
shave my legs!

17 degrees here (South Coast) cloudy and very dull - no warmth in our forecast for the next week or so! Still in denim cosy jeggings and a long-sleeved top. Don't possess a dress!

Me!

closureatlast · 18/06/2026 12:35

No. I dont possess one or a skirt

I’m almost always in dresses, just tailored to suit the weather. It’s mild here in Central Scotland today, so I’m in a Free People linen maxi dress, one of several as I love them.

The weather is very regional then. It's warm and the wind has finally abated. It's sunbathing weather this afternoon

Hang on, back up, hold the front page

The weather is very regional?

Why has this been kept a secret?

I love wearing dresses (preferably the floaty sort) and flip flops. I feel truly liberated and comfortable in them but it's only possible about 3 times a year in this country. The rest of the time it's just jeans, jumpers and trainers nearly all year round, which is depressing.

I’m wearing a long skirt and black t-shirt with sandals for work. I am RED hot

VikingLady · 18/06/2026 14:37

I dress for the weather but not in a dress. My thighs rub, and did even when I was a size 8, so it means extra shorts, so no cooler. Then I’ll need a bag for everything that would usually go in my pockets, so it’s inconvenient too. And I’d have to shave my legs (thick black hair, very manly).

I’m in wide legged linen trousers with a vest.

I wish! I have to wear a thick dark blue polo top and black trousers for work, not fun!

BlackCat14 · 18/06/2026 18:26

I mean yes, I’m sure people dress for the weather?

Ive been wearing dresses for weeks, even the days it’s not been gorgeous 25 degree sun, it’s still warm to me.

Myli1 · 18/06/2026 18:46

Unfortunately not as I have to wear a uniform for work. Luckily I finish at 2pm though so I stripped off as soon as I got home and sat in the garden with a cold drink.

SaraHoliday · 18/06/2026 18:59

Yes! It's hot and humid in my part of the world!

White button through shirt dress with a belt tied in a bow. Gorgeous wedge heeled sandals and a raffia bag!
