It's warm/hot are you wearing a dress today?

I got up this morning, forecast says warm to hot so went to the wardrobe and picked out a dress and sandals.

I've always done this, dressed for the weather. Do people still do this?

It's not here. I'm in jeans

The weather is very regional then. It's warm and the wind has finally abated. It's sunbathing weather this afternoon

Linen blend don't crease and super light.

JaneLupin · 17/06/2026 15:06

I’m dressing for the weather in shorts instead of a dress.

Nangula · 17/06/2026 15:06

I’m in wide leg jeans and a cream linen shirt with leather trainers. I’m the south east and it’s not warm enough to get me in a dress yet. Most people are in jeans and t-shirts, with the odd optimistic dress wearer.

I mean... assuming you have eyes and the power of sight, you must be aware that people dress for the weather?!

It's not especially hot where I am - it's 20c and cloudy - plus I'm indoors all day. So I'm in loose fitting jeans and a t-shirt.

I'm going to be outdoors later but that's for a run so obviously I'll be changing into running gear for that!

familyicons · 17/06/2026 15:07

South coast here too. Overcast. Cold.

OH to be running. Post recent hip replacement surgery glad to be on one stick finally. Enjoy your run.

thank you for your apology on behalf of the weather forecast.

hexsnidgett · 17/06/2026 15:16

You have an unusual posting style.
I never wear dresses I am confused by their continued popularity to be honest.
Trousers and tshirt for me today, plus a quilted jacket earlier when it looked like rain.

Same, I’m wearing jeans, jumper and a thin (ish) jacket.

Its windy, cloudy and chilly

I don’t even wear dresses and sandals that often when it is hot

DandelionClockSeeds · 17/06/2026 15:25

I've just put a jumper on!

RandomUsernameHere · 17/06/2026 15:37

No but I’m wearing shorts and a vest so dressed for the warm weather. I only ever wear dresses on holiday or for weddings or events.

Honeypizza · 17/06/2026 15:54

Doesn't everyone dress for the weather?

It's bloody cold and dark here today (has been all week) so I'm in a jumper and I've just blasted the heating.

Ches71 · 17/06/2026 16:09

dementedpixie · 17/06/2026 14:48

I never really wear dresses. Shorts or leggings are my go to. Too much chub rub for skirts or dresses

@dementedpixie I used to be like you and now I wear chub rub shorts from Snag. Best thing ever and means I can now where skirts and dresses 👗🥰

DilemmaDelilah · 18/06/2026 11:02

It's 18 degrees here and dull. Not expected to go over 21 degrees. d

I'm wearing a long short-sleeved top and cropped leggings. I wore a dress yesterday. I tend to wear tops and bottoms as they are more versatile.

mondaytosunday · 18/06/2026 11:39

No. I hate my legs (some veins and discolouration) so unless a maxi I don’t wear dresses/skirts. I’m wearing lightweight trousers and a linen top. When it hits 30 next week I’ll stay at home and wear a kaftan - long loose and cool.

ToadRage · 18/06/2026 11:43

Yes, but I wear a dress everyday. Usually with leggings.

BoarBrush · 18/06/2026 12:12

I've got the heating on and wearing cosy pj's and uggs.

Saturdays meant to be nice....

Aposterhasnoname · 18/06/2026 12:20

Dress for the weather you say? what a brilliant idea, wish Id thought of that. I'm boiling today in my ski suit and snow boots.

Additup · 18/06/2026 12:24

Can some dress lovers on here please tell me where I'm going wrong because wherever I wear a dress it just retains heat inside it so I avoid wearing them in hot weather.

A dress just seems to act like insulation on me so I tend to wear a skirt/shorts and t-shirt instead. That way there's ventilation around my midriff.

I've always been like this with dresses, where am I going wrong ???

ayvasili · 18/06/2026 12:25

Would love to be wearing a floaty dress (I'm in Cyprus) but I'm running around after a toddler and she often wants me to sit down on the floor with her, so shorts and t-shirt it is! And yes..it's bloody baking 🥵
