I think the photos are badly taken and make it look like it's on the landing. The open doorway in the left corner of the first photo is actually the bathroom door, with the photo taken from the bottom of the stairs up to the loft bedroom. It's 100% a private bathroom.

Itsasecretnow · 17/04/2026 12:12

OotontheRandan · 16/04/2026 22:24

I often have stressful dreams about having to have a bath or use the toilet in these sort of arrangements. Open to all. Windows for people to see in. Stairs for people to use and watch... nope. Nope nope.

God, yes! Me too! The stress!! And the dreams seem so bloody regular, and I’ve been having them for years. It’s the most - and worse - recurrent dream that I’ve ever had. The place always changes but the rest of the dreams just stay the same. A literal nightmare 😱

Moveoverdarlin · 17/04/2026 12:16

That’s what thought. Lovely house for that money.

Saucery · 17/04/2026 12:18

Hinderwell is lovely, but yes, there’s something weird about the garage/garden arrangement.

rainbowstardrops · 17/04/2026 12:18

The random bath under the stairs! 🤣

GoldenCupsatHarvestTime · 17/04/2026 12:22

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 16/04/2026 22:06

I am gobsmacked. A bathroom on the landing? Who on Earth thought that was a good idea?

I’d assume it’s an en suite for the bedroom above it

GoldenCupsatHarvestTime · 17/04/2026 12:24

ainsleysanob · 17/04/2026 11:52

And yet in my area of Yorkshire it would be about £150k! You’re only going to get over 200k for a detached or very nice semi detached in my area!

It would be £600k where I am.

EnjoythemoneyJane · 17/04/2026 12:25

sittingonabeach · 16/04/2026 22:13

I assume it is a sort of ensuite to the upstairs bedroom

That’s exactly what it is, and a really good use of what would otherwise be dead space in a small house.

It’s a private bathroom - the staircase only leads to the upstairs bedroom, it’s not like you’d be waving to random people walking past when you’re dropping the kids off at the pool!

Amazes me how few people can read a floor plan …

EnjoythemoneyJane · 17/04/2026 12:30

Jemminy · 17/04/2026 11:48

It is private, as long as there is no one in the attic room.

Presumably you’re only sharing an attic room with a partner, and there’s a separate door to the bedroom at the top of the stairs, so zero difference to any other en suite arrangement.

The only quirky thing is that access to the rest of the house is via the bathroom door rather than the bedroom door, but that’s hardly a gigantic inconvenience 🤷‍♀️

DoughnutDreamer · 17/04/2026 12:31

OP, I was confused by your IBS comment as I thumbed through the photos of a perfectly ordinary albeit boring house….and then BAM! I’m not sure I’ve ever seen anything like that and quite frankly I’m astounded it hasn’t sold yet. Absolutely astounded.

DamnBuster · 16/04/2026 22:13

Just what I always wanted - a carpeted bog at the foot of the stairs!

Yes I thought that!!!!!!
id have put a line of fitted wardrobes there then an en-suite in the actual upstairs bit.

Mildmanneredmum · 17/04/2026 12:49

ChaliceinWonderland · 16/04/2026 22:09

Apart from the f off weird bog situation, christ it's cheap up north!! That would be triple the price in my area...

I take it you don't know Hinderwell ....

BoarBrush · 17/04/2026 12:49

How bizarre. I hope no-one else uses it apart from the top floor bedroom.

A Rightmove corker!

You’re very easily astounded.

It’s a lovely house, I could live with the bathroom situation.

well yes, if only there were a perfectly functional family shower room right next door. Oh wait....

It's not particularly cheap in my area - Derbyshire close to Sheffield.

Strawberriesandpears · 17/04/2026 13:40

I think it's lovely to be honest. I really like the decor and it seems like they have used all the space well.

Yes very. I’m sorry you’re so offended by that.

Allseeingallknowing · 17/04/2026 15:17

It’s unusual, I’d buy it!

I want to know how you open the kitchen draws under the sink

You’d have to open the other cupboard door first, which would be annoying . Have to change that!

Allseeingallknowing · 17/04/2026 15:22

My guess is they are fake. A blanking plate between under sink cupboard and overset sink is really common - the blanking plate is cut down to fit the gap without having to resize a door. I think they've just used 2 bits of leftover trim to mock up drawers.

driftingdownintomiami · 17/04/2026 15:38

Our house has a loo without a door on the top floor attic conversion. It's sort of tucked in a corner next to the shower but it's still really weird not to put a door on. I don't really go up there often so out of sight out of mind!

LarsenBiceshelf · 17/04/2026 15:46

Frustrating if you want to leave the bedroom but your husband has locked himself in the ensuite having a leisurely poo. I suppose you could climb out of the window.
