Rage!!! 😡

I’ve been suffering with perimenopause symptoms for the last few years. I’ll be forty in a few months. I’ve been on HRT since July and while it’s helped my physical symptoms, the emotional ones are getting worse.

This weekend I’ve sworn and shouted at my partner. I knocked over some furniture on the way to get out of the house as I felt like I could have quite easily smashed the place up. It’s like being in another body. I’ve apologised profusely and now feel deeply ashamed. This isn’t me. I feel out of control. Along with the anxiety and mood swings and two week long periods, I’m a mess!

I have an appointment in an hour with a menopause specialist. What can I say or ask for? I’m already on Utrogestan and Everol 50 patch.

Thanks

Would you had been able to control yourself if this had been in front a child? A colleague?

Hypothetical scenarios aren’t relevant here. The situation happened at the weekend. I immediately contacted the doctor and asked for help. I’ve now started my new HRT regimen.

It is relevant

because if you think you would have behaved like this in front a colleague or child then you were out of control. If you think you would have censored your behaviour, then you were in control.

Well had my drs appointment on Wednesday.
Apparently I felt so good because the estrogen is the one that makes us all happy and no I can't use it on its own 😲😢.

I was offered the coil and the gel but I said no, im sterilised so dont want to go through that again.

We have decided that I go cold turkey and just keep taking my supplements to see how I go.

Wonder how this is going to go...Will i need to make a padded cell in my house for the rage days? 😬

Oh no. I’m sorry that they didn’t offer you any suitable options.

I was resistant to trying psych meds for the longest time, but found that an SSRI has helped massively with the rage.

Emerging research is also now showing that SSRIs have a direct effect on moderating hormones, particularly helping counter the negative effects of progesterone (which is the problematic one for many women).

Edited

I think for now I will try riding the storm and see how i go. I have noticed since I stopped the estrogen I have lost a wee bit of weight so thats a good thing, albeit im not overweight, but a cheeky few pounds off here and there isn't a bad thing.
