Happy to find this thread! Rooting hard for Cambridge. Feel like the main male channel 4 commentator is massively biased in favour of Oxford!

Commentator saying this Oxford crew, including one who only started rowing at Oxford, is a better crew than last year's containing 3 Olympians.

Clean win by Cambridge, but good effort by Oxford.

A relative of mine rows for his college at Cambridge. He says it’s harder to get a place in the boat for Cambridge than it is to row for Team GB. He literally knows a team GB rower who isn’t good enough to row for Cambridge 😮

I was the kind of lazy bastard who got into a scratch college boat for Eights and congratulated ourselves if we didn’t capsize. But had serious rowing friends.

The commentators definitely seemed biased towards Oxford.

Am googling my local rowing club again. It has a nice recreational squad. Maybe I will go back to it. (I say this every year).

This after race win commentary is crap.

Ah @Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain - a good cox without 200,000 people on the bank doesn’t yell, they kind of do a low rhythmic urging. Also you kind of give up your brain and let them take over - quite relaxing.

Great result! Jamie Laing is a useless interviewer and Martin Cross is still doubling down on his Oxford bias. He’s just said Cambridge could have rowed better!

That was the boat I coxed ;-) we were very much the third eight (smallish college). The other boats made their cox do the Ergs and runs with them, my lot barely did any of that themselves!

I don’t think so, just that they wanted an actual race rather than Cambridge cruising to another victory, without Oxford really being in it at all.

Jamie Lang is there to try to appeal to a younger audience however it’s not working on DC at home with us.
