I do wonder how much SM was shitting it when PS and HE got their comeuppance. Or maybe he wasn’t and felt waaaaay above repercussion

HoraceCope · 31/03/2026 18:53

why has it reappeared now though?

OonaStubbs · 31/03/2026 18:54

These people have no shame it seems.

Not that long ago I was reading a thread on MN by a mum whose 15/16yo son was being groomed by a man in his 30s.

How many grown men are walking around holding this trauma inside?

He must have been. Various quotes like “this could all end tomorrow”. Talk about a sword of Damocles.

So the BBC have known about this for almost a year?! Why now? What's happened? I'm wondering if there's more recent allegations about to come out 😞

Nextdoorarebangingagain · 31/03/2026 19:41

@likelysuspect I don’t think there has been anything with ZB? Drinking and even drug use in the 90’s from anyone (don’t think Zb did!) hardly compares to his accusation though!

Why do you think that? Sorry can’t see that online?

Apologies now see Mirror saying that. That’s bad. Have they learned nothing?

Playing devil’s advocate, if the police dropped the case in 2018 with no further action, why are the BBC treating him as guilty?

I've got in trouble for saying it before but I find these relationships with high ranking males in the media world being in a relationship with much younger men really concerning.

Silverbirchleaf · 31/03/2026 19:56

All the allegations seem to be coming from The Mirror.

canisquaeso · 31/03/2026 19:57

I’m struggling to understand why he got booted now if the police dropped it all the way back - has it either resurfaced or he hasn’t disclosed it?

I think there is just much more to this story than we currently know. I guess it'll all come out eventually but at the moment it's a bit lacking in detail.

LoyalMember · 31/03/2026 20:19

The amount of people defending this sleazy beast is disturbing.

The Huw Edwards' drama aired on Channel 5 on the 24 March. I wouldn't be surprised if the man who was a teenager under 16 in 1997, or a family member, watched that and went to the BBC.

Indeed. I can’t see the BBC terminating his contract unless something else is going on. But who knows, we cannot make presumptions either way.

politics, showbiz, music business anywhere someone (usually male?) can exercise power they will. In Hollywood it was the casting couch, in politics its been mistresses, parliamentary assistants and young men forever. Thinking of Cecil Parkinson in Thatcher era and Mandelson (again) and his Brazilian bf

Yes it is really strange that the allegations ba come out now given that the events were date back to 1997-2000 and the police investigation was 2016. You would have thought it would have been more
likely to come out when it all happened with Philip Schofield.

Imsosadaboutthis · 31/03/2026 20:42

Do you think he's waiting for the actual story to drop before he says anything? His silence is not doing him any favours.
