Perimenopause- have supplements actually helped?

I’m worried about sinking a ton of money on supplements that ultimately make no difference to how I’m feeling!

There also seems to be such a hierarchy of brands, and cheapies from the supermarket just not cutting the mustard. Does how much you spend really make a difference?

Has anyone found that supplements really did help, and if so how long it took to see the effects?

thanks!

I think I need testosterone as only on everol conti. Doctors didn’t offer me anything else, also on fluoxetine Prozac for mental health issues (psychosis anxiety severe insomnia) which I am positive was to do with peri menopause and menopause. Was hospitalised.

Oh gosh, that's dreadful ❤️

You can request a baseline blood test for your testosterone - see where you're starting from and if your levels are low, you could ask to start supplementing.

I will do thank you! Little is known about this in menopause apparently.

Menopace + stopped my hot flushes and night sweats.

Doctors are most likely to prescribe testosterone if you say that your libido is suffering, so bear that in mind 🤷🏻

There are so many information black holes around menopause. Some patients really do know more than health care professionals in some cases!

'I'm now on HRT all symptoms are gone except lack of motivation'

Can I ask if you're on testosterone as part of your HRT? It has massively helped me with motivation, focus and confidence

Yes, I'm on testosterone. It has helped massively but my lack of motivation was extreme! So I'm loads better than I was but still need more help.

I think you need a higher dose. Everol Conti is only a medium dose, the highest licenced dose is double what you're on. My symptoms didn't go until I was on the highest dose.

You could be on Evorel 100 plus a separate progesterone and maybe not need the Prozac. My sister was sectioned with menopause symptoms, no suggestion from any medical professional that that was the cause despite her age. She is on Evorel 100 now and is back to her normal self. There was no need for any of it she just needed HRT.

In early perimenopause I thought the health and her supplements helped enough. But the hot flushes really ramped up and my sleep was terrible so now I've just started HRT.

Thank you so much for your advice. I could scream at my doctors not monitoring this properly, male doctors of course.
