Name my company?

Please would you all help me come up with suggestions for a company name. I know many of these threads have been done on Mumsnet before. You are all so witty and creative!

So this is only at the planning stage.
I'm going to set up a side business, a little hussle, alongside my main job, which is accounts.

I'm going to offer monthly payroll only , to neat and tidy companies, who are compliant and organised, so I don't end up with tricky payrolls, nor hospitality nor eg nursing homes that have high staff turnover, unorganised late submissions etc.

I am qualified and have been doing accounts and payroll for like 30 years!! So I reckon I can do this.

I wanted the first word to be Payroll.
So It was obvious what the service was.
Payroll Precision - only that's no good because precision is too hard to spell.

Won't these high end compliant companies you want to attract already have a payroll department?

Way back I ran payroll for several independent pre-schools until they were bought by a big chain. I taught myself because it was a requirement of the post i had on the volunteer board which ran one of them. I've also done the payroll for several companies we've owned, including hospitality. With modern software (and no background in accounts) I was able to produce accurate payroll every month, including during the dreaded furlough, which was fully compliant with HMRCs requirements - it really isn't difficult and the software is either free (from HMRC) or inexpensive so no longer a barrier for small businesses. We had an accountant who was used for tax returns etc so you might want to think about what these businesses will actually want to pay for not just what you want to provide. As a PP said it's a very saturated market for payroll only services. Good luck with your business.

With kindness, I don’t really get your idea though. You seem to be saying that you want high-end profitable companies to pay you, an as-yet unknown entity, a premium for doing their totally uncomplicated accounts. Not even accounts, uncomplicated payroll. Is that realistic?

I really do applaud anyone that’s brave (and skilled) enough to go self-employed and I wish you the very best of luck. Really, I do. But, based purely on what you’ve written here, I’m not sure you’ve thought it through fully. Why would they pick you and not a bigger firm? Or someone they know? Or the people that have, seemingly successfully, been doing their finances thus far? Isn’t the more likely target market the ones who haven’t got it sussed yet? I’m sure I’m missing something but wanted to share my honest thoughts in case there was, perhaps, something you might’ve not considered either.

Let us know what you decide on name-wise. Hope it goes well.

Beyond the name, you really need to consider your marketing. It’s currently quite confusing (to me). They have to be easy but then you also want to charge high rates. Easy clients are will likely not feel that they need complicated services worthy of high prices.
