7.5% this year.
It was 9.5% last year.

I'm in Scotland. We had CT freezes for years, so I don't begrudge the increases; they're going to make up for all those years freezes one way or another. I hope we can see an improvement in services, though.

ImWearingPantaloons · 20/03/2026 15:07

£60 a year. Was expecting it to be worse to be honest.

Pickledonion1999 · 20/03/2026 15:08

I think ours has gone up about £150 a year. Hard to take especially as I am losing my job in a months time.

QwestSprout · 20/03/2026 15:14

£228 a year. Also Scotland.

MidnightPatrol · 20/03/2026 15:15

£150. Almost £4k a year now.

Water has doubled in two years too.

Worst of all is my nursery bill which has gone up about £600 in three years.

Thinking about living off grid in the forest and eating bark and raising bees.

Orchid90 · 20/03/2026 15:18

120 £ in a year .
every year it goes up 10-12 £
I remember when we got the house 5 years ago it was under 180£ per month , now 230

Cominghomesoon · 20/03/2026 15:19

Up by £250 a year plus we pay an additional £100 for green waste, that's not being renewed this year!

Chewbecca · 20/03/2026 15:19

5%
It's a lot! Our biggest monthly bill.

WhatAMarvelousTune · 20/03/2026 15:21

£133.

Fine for us. Irritating when they’ve switched to three weekly bin collections and charging for green waste though. (Yes, I know rubbish collections is a v small part of what you’re paying for, I know it will have saved them negligible amounts in relation to their budget as a whole, I’m just whining).

placemats · 20/03/2026 15:23

£8 per month which equals £96 this year.

Ihad2Strokes · 20/03/2026 15:38

About £100 for the year. Bad enough as I can't work anymore, but could have been worse!

OnAWednesdayInACafe · 20/03/2026 16:01

£96 increase for the year

Italwaysdepends · 20/03/2026 16:15

Ours went up by £7 a month on the same day I reduced my phone bill by £7 a month 🫠

I felt the small win for a few hours until the local news announced the council tax hike!

JehovasFitness · 20/03/2026 16:16

£86 this year. Nowhere near enough until councils get a proper settlement for social care. Look forward to them stripping services further.

TheHateIsNotGood · 20/03/2026 17:08

5% increase (County 5%, Police 5.2 %, Fire 4.8%, District 3%, Town 8.6%). My band B home (SW) council tax bill is now £2063.

In Cheshire East and my band B home is now £1920. When I came to this house 9 years ago to this very day, it was £1178. Annually.

WeaselsRising · 20/03/2026 17:25

Our council asked for permission (from the Govt, not the local taxpayers) to increase ours by almost 9%.

New bill is £150 more than last year.

BackIn20 · 20/03/2026 17:27

5% extra demanded by a council which doesnt even collect our fucking recycling (Birmingham).

They've paid off the deficit though! Because they haven't paid the binmen.

I may be cross.

billandtedsexcellentadventure · 20/03/2026 17:38

£300. Absolutely scandalous. Who can afford this life?!

Meadowfinch · 20/03/2026 17:41

After my 25% discount, it's gone up £10 a month.

Tableforjoan · 20/03/2026 17:43

Just over £110 extra per year.

Getamoveon2024 · 20/03/2026 17:45

An extra £71….per MONTH!!!!! 😱😱
