Beautiful pasta bowls

parsleydog · 16/03/2026 20:23

We have now finally broken enough of our ugly chipped pasta bowls that I have an excuse to buy new ones.

i need them to be beautiful! Preferably colourful. Maybe with birds or flowers or animals on them.

Love Anthropologie china but they don’t seem to have pasta bowls that fit the bill currently.

Don’t mind them being a bit expensive but need to not be so much that I’ll mind when someone inevitably drops one in the sink and breaks it.

Please help!

Personally I only buy catering plates.

They last forever, so much more hard wearing than plates sold to consumers. Lots of beautiful options. Complementary but not matchy options for other lovely items.

Has dramatically enhanced my life.

I’d find a catering website and then search for pasta bowls - you can filter by pattern.

Beautiful and won’t chip, smash or need replaced. Your main problem will be justifying having to buy new ones when you have a full set years down the line!

I have my eye on these, not sure I can justify the price but im yet to find anything that pleases me more! Yvonne and Ellen

I think you can justify the price if you have too.
13.75 each, basically a bargain!

I’m shocked no one has suggested portmeiron they have floral ranges also https://www.portmeirion.co.uk/portmeirion-pomona-pasta-bowls-set-of-6

I always think of Portmeirion as dated… and they are so expensive!!

RupertTheBlackCat · 18/03/2026 07:39

I've got the matching plates to those and they're lovely.

JaneFondue · 18/03/2026 11:30

My partner got me a set of Portmeirion pasta bowls for Valentine’s Day and I love them. They’re really durable and bring me joy when I eat out of them, and they’re just the right size. https://amzn.to/3NvC3Co

This range has birds, animals and flowers and comes in a range of colours. Our family has used our set for more than 30 years since my children were tiny… and it’s still going strong. I bought ours in Italy but they stock a good selection at Divertimenti and often include pieces in their sales.

These are pretty.

Definitely worth going to Sainsbury's and looking at some. Mine were from there but not floral.

I really miss whittards doing plates etc. I am down to my last spotty pasta bowl from there.

Interesting. Those catering bowls are porcelain or vitrified china. All the reactive glaze bowls I've seen in the shops are stoneware, which is much more prone to chipping and the reason I haven't bought any, although I love the look. Thanks for that.

Welcome 🙏

I bought sets of different plates, ramekins etc years ago all going strong.

I am into buying quality once.

Going to be replacing tea clothes & napkins soon with best catering quality.
