What small things make you feel put together day to day?

What makes you feel 'complete' in your self-care routine?

For me, it's having my nails done and my hair clean. I don't wear make-up every day, and when I do, it's usually only a quick swipe of mascara. I'm not fussed about looking trendy or immaculately attired, and happy to slop around in baggy jumpers and leggings at home.

But I do like having my nails done every 3 weeks, and I feel very discombobulated if I have a day when I've not washed my hair, even if I'm not leaving the house all day.

I’ve let myself go after gaining quite a lot of weight.

now on my slimming world journey and already feeling better.

i alsways do my make up even if it’s just bronzer and mascara on a weekend.
always use moisturiser
hair always done every morning.

always wear perfume

i can’t can’t can’t wait to choose clothes that I love rather than what covers me.

I’ve bought a nail kit ready to start doing them again

I had powder brows done and get them topped up every 18 months.

best £300 I ever spent

Gel nails every 3 weeks & have recently started getting a lash lift & tint which makes a huge difference as I dont wear makeup every day. I have earrings i wear all the time & always have a necklace on as well.

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 17/03/2026 11:52

Earrings. The rest can either work or not work it’s not my problem.

Klozza · 18/03/2026 11:31

I have my eyebrows microbladed so they always look ‘done’ and I have eyelash extensions. I also have a pretty rigorous skincare routine, so most of the time my skins fairly clear and fresh. These make me feel at least semi put together, even on days where I really cba.

Starlight1979 · 18/03/2026 11:50

I must be doing something wrong as I always have a shower every morning, have clean, washed hair, good skincare routine, clean clothes (unless I'm walking the dogs) and light make-up every day and I NEVER feel put together 😭

ImFineItsAllFine · 18/03/2026 11:54

I find that good quality, nice shoes (or boots) always lift any outfit and are worth spending that bit extra on.

ZiggyZowie · 18/03/2026 11:55

clean clothes on , brush hair, do my eyebrows, lipstick

always wear silver huggie earrings and rings .

HolyMoly24 · 18/03/2026 11:57

Clean clothes, perfume and at least the very front bits of my hair tidied up with straighteners.

ForAmusedHazelQuoter · 18/03/2026 11:59

It’s all about feeling super clean for me.

DundeeNewcastle · 18/03/2026 12:00

Clean hair, manicure each week (at home and just filed neatly), small hoops and wedding ring, tinted lip balm, nars concealer and brown mascara.

FastFood · 18/03/2026 12:00

All my clothes (except fom jumpers and underwear) are ironed.
And I always have my nails done + gold jewelry. Even if I just go to the park with the dog and I'm wearing (ironed) tracksuits.

Matching underwear underneath it all.

This!

Without a fail, every single day (unless I don’t wear a bra obviously).
Clean hair and nails are not worth mentioning because they are in the same category as brushing teeth, it happens without fail.
It all falls into place from there, in between nice matching underwear and clean footwear, you simply don’t feel like not keeping everything else neat and clean.

WellOodelally · 18/03/2026 12:05

Clean hair and neat, tinted brows. And a really good bra. Everything else just sort of falls into place after that!

Same here!

SequinnedMac · 18/03/2026 12:14

Clean, shiny hair, some make up. Tinted foundation, brightening concealer under the eyes, mascara, peachy cream blush and a tinted lip balm. Tidy brows.
Even if I’m just wearing jeans, a sweater and trainers, I feel good and ‘put together’ .

Denim4ever · 18/03/2026 12:17

Different necklace or other jewellery with chosen outfit. Using perfume and hand creams in rotation. Scarves chosen as appr.

I've tried to build up a bit of a routine and I find that really helps, I also don't like to spend lots of money so here are some budget-friendly things!

Some people might think this is overkill/too rigid, but find for myself it helps me to have more time in the long-run to do things I enjoy and to relax after work.

Every day things:

I've tried to build up a capsule wardrobe (mostly off Vinted!) of tones/colours that all go together, I plan my outfit for work the night before and always chuck some jewellery and perfume on too.

I do the same, quick make up routine: L'Oreal true match serum (it has changed my mornings, you can apply it with your hands and it gives a light coverage that lasts!), blush, brow pencil/gel, and pencil eyeliner/mascara - set with spray. I use instagram to find hairstyle videos, nothing fancy, 5-10 mins tops.

At the weekend (not every weekend):

Wax and tint my own eyebrows (I just cut up face wax strips and use men's beard dye!).

Paint my nails - I use the Sally Hansen Insta-Dri so I don't have to waste any time waiting for them to dry.

Make and freeze a batch of soup for work lunches for the following week.

I workout a few times a week at home in the morning from YouTube, so I find the workouts I want to do the weekend before and put them in my calendar.

These things make me feel confident, organised and put-together :)

Womaninhouse17 · 19/03/2026 10:30

Reading these comments and seeing how much effort other people go to makes me realise why I always feel slightly scruffy! I have to be washed and have cleaned my teeth, but that's about it. My clothes are clean and I try to get the styles and colours right but I don't even really know what 'put together' means.

Ilovecheeseyah · 19/03/2026 10:35

I love doing liquid eye liner flicks on my eyes. I feel the power!!!

socks1107 · 19/03/2026 10:36

hair washed and styled daily, nice outfit that I always plan the night before

WorstPaceScenario · 19/03/2026 10:38

Subtle fake tan, red lipstick, and nice shoes. When I say 'nice', I wear trainers a lot but they're all clean, new-looking, and co-ordinated to what I'm wearing as opposed to a pair that I fling on with everything.

Ilovecheeseyah · 21/03/2026 11:59

It is also for me about looking intentional and having the right accessories, not being late and hot and bothered.
