What small things make you feel put together day to day?

What makes you feel 'complete' in your self-care routine?

For me, it's having my nails done and my hair clean. I don't wear make-up every day, and when I do, it's usually only a quick swipe of mascara. I'm not fussed about looking trendy or immaculately attired, and happy to slop around in baggy jumpers and leggings at home.

But I do like having my nails done every 3 weeks, and I feel very discombobulated if I have a day when I've not washed my hair, even if I'm not leaving the house all day.

I've recently lost 60 pound on mounjaro so that's instantly made me feel a bit more polished and put together!

I've never done anything to my eyebrows, don't have pierced ears (used to have 2 in each lobe). Neve wear jewellery apart from my wedding rings.

I always have contacts in if I leave the house (glasses at home). Makeup if going out the house (not for gym) perfume for work, I straiten my hair every day even if not leaving the house. Nails done with biab every 3 weeks, nothing fancy, fairly short and either French polish or a plain pale colour

EasterlyDirection · 15/03/2026 19:26

Contacts in, glasses are strictly only for at home. Simple jewellery, rings on fourth finger of each hand, silver necklace, earrings. Eyebrows done, mine are faded and thin so need a bit of help. Bit of mascara. Nails very short and polished, sometimes gels but often just clear polish.

holjam · 15/03/2026 19:43

I love having my nails done and get them refreshed every 4 weeks.
My rings and watch and earrings along with a lick of concealer and mascara.

orangetriangle · 15/03/2026 19:51

nails and eyebrows i get done every 3 weeks foundation and mascara to hide the lines! and a dash of lipstick hair straightened or its a frizzy mess coloured and highlighted and trimmed about 3 to 4 time a year because its so pricey
earrings and bracelet and nice watch on

PixelDustMom · 15/03/2026 20:11

I’m with you on the washed hair. I wash, dry and style my hair everyday. Basic, natural makeup. Clean tidy nails. Ironed clothes, and clean shoes are a MUST for me 😬

NotAWurstToIt · 15/03/2026 20:27

brow lamination every few weeks, nails done. If I’m leaving the house for work full makeup, if I’m working from home then mascara and a neutral lipstick. Always perfume.
Makeup cleaned off every night and night moisturiser on.

PurpleSky300 · 15/03/2026 22:06

Shaving my chin and drawing my eyebrows on.

StarlightLady · 16/03/2026 06:30

Matching underwear underneath it all.

franklymydearscarlett · 16/03/2026 07:14

I hate getting my nails done. I have a blow dry once a week or 2 weeks (work in the city). Eyebrows threaded once a month.
Another vote for Erborian BB cream which is amazing!

PloddingAlong21 · 16/03/2026 08:17

squaline cleanser and moisturiser. I don’t really wear make up but if I don’t do those my face simply feels like it not clean for the day and skin feels dry.

MsPug · 16/03/2026 08:19

Lash extensions and perfume

SandrenaIsMyBloodType · 16/03/2026 08:25

These days, it’s a bit of makeup. It didn’t used to be. I used to have a pretty defined divide between days when I was out and about, and days when I was at home and I never wore it at home.
Nowadays, I find I often put some on even when nobody is likely to see me. I find it motivating. If I’m drifting about being unproductive, I put a bit of makeup on and I start being more productive. Why the hell blusher makes it easier for me to clean the bathroom, I don’t know but I’m not fighting it!

Owly11 · 16/03/2026 08:40

Good quality well cut clothes in natural fabrics, washed and ironed.

FrostyMorn · 16/03/2026 08:55

I'm guessing most of you who say you wash/style your hair every day don't have frizzy/difficult hair! Smooth, shiny hair instantly makes you look neater. Very envious.

For me, mascara and earrings make the difference but can't say I ever really feel 'put together', though that's not really my style anyway.

Yes, that's why I didn't mention hair! Mine is wavy/curly and prone to frizz, it is tricky so I stick with the other things and just do my best with my hair, I do have regular cuts so the overall shape is good but the curls/waves can be a bit random

BeanQuisine · 16/03/2026 10:25

My hair is too long and thick to wash every day and really doesn't need it. I do it every second or third day and usually give it two cycles (rinse and repeat).

Then it's a matter of blow-drying, setting and spraying. Quite a lot of bother but I haven't been able to tempt myself to try a shorter style for a long time.

Rarely wear make-up but always wear clean, smart clothes in public, ironed if necessary. Clean clothes in my own home too, but they can be older and scruffier.

Gribouille · 16/03/2026 10:41

Leather shoes and bags, always kept with balm and polish - I have some that are 20 and 30 years old...

And I iron everything (but still look like I've slept on a plane for 12 hours)... 😆

Yes, me too!
I've just switched to Nature Spell growth complex salt free shampoo and conditioner from H&B which so far is making me look a bit more 'kempt'.

WaryBlueFish · 16/03/2026 12:37

Shower, wash and blow dry hair and (light) makeup daily. Even when I am home all day in (clean) leggings and a sweatshirt.

Tonissister · 16/03/2026 12:39

Mascara, light scent, good moisturiser, light lip gloss. Without those I feel unable to function well. If just one thing, mascara. I have white blonde lashes and my eyes look piggy and exhausted if I don't wear mascara.

Clean hair! Also get my brows waxed and tinted and my eyelashes tinted every 3 weeks. Nails every 4 weeks.

This!

This reminds me of during lockdown. Every Friday lunchtime I’d do what l called “my posh frock walk”. I’d put on more makeup than usual for a working day, wear one of my nicest dresses and go for a circular walk to nowhere. I felt better for it though.

greenteaandlimes · 16/03/2026 18:22

I have clean, filed nails, but no paint and nothing from a salon.
Put together - my hair recently coloured and clean, which is rarely the case lol
i guess a bit of face powder and mascara. Light fresh perfume. Straightened hair.
Actually I rarely feel pulled together! Just no time to attend to myself.

Salon keratin treatments have changed my life. I have one about every 4 months and my hair is always glossy and smooth and ready to go in 5 minutes. I no longer have the dreaded half hour battle.

CarlaLemarchant · 16/03/2026 18:38

Skincare, make up, perfume. A nice bag.
