Sent a wrong item on Vinted - why do I have to pay to return it?

Seller wants me to return the top and she’ll refund me. Fair enough but I’ll be out of pocket for her mistake as I’ll have to pay to return it. Surely this isn’t right?

If you do rebuy it, ask her to deduct the postage amount you paid to send the incorrect item back.

They should have a better policy. Fair enough if the buyer changes their mind or something but if the seller is at fault they should suffer the costs

On vinted the buyer pays return postage unless the seller agrees to cover it. It's quite clear in their T&Cs. In these circumstances she absolutely should have paid it, but she hasn't and that is her perogative. Yours is not to use Vinted.
Now she has selected for you to pay she can't change this. So if you want a refund you'll need to pay. Otherwise keep the top and express your dissatisfaction in feedback, which she'll likely reciprocate.

It’s ridiculous that it’s up to the seller to decide, if they’ve sent out the wrong item.

What’s the point in the ‘buyer protection’ buyers are forced to pay, when you can end up out of pocket for a seller mistake?!

Edited

”Buyer protection” is a joke with vinted.

I don’t know why they can’t just be honest and call it their fees. Vinted must be making eye watering amounts of money for doing nothing in return.

to be fair she has already initiated the refund. It’ll cost me to send it back though! So annoying

I refused to send the item back until I got the postage paid. She refused this and then wrote me an awful review. I put in a complaint and Vinted removed the review. The dress she sent was then donated to charity. She gave no refund at all in the end.

Just keep it and resell. Annoying that you didn’t get the item you wanted but I wouldn’t be putting myself out of pocket for someone else’s mistake.

I don’t know enough about Vinted and whether you HAVE to send it back. It sounds wild if you do have to send it back at your own cost.

Can you tell her that you’re unable to leave the house atm. None of her business why. You might have a disability, you might have the shits, you might have Covid. None of her business.

Yes, could you not send it back unless she pays for postage and then mark your item as not received so you get refunded for that?

Vinted has become farcical. I've just had this recently. Cost me £7odd in postage as item was very heavy...seller has agreed (at my request) to put something extra in to cover my costs if I bought it back - which I have done. To be fair, she was mortified, but it was a huge inconvenience - I was at my late Mum's clearing her house for selling and was stressed and distracted. You could suggest to the seller to reduce the costs when she relists and you buy it back at that price, so you are not out of pocket. Vinted are utterly useless and their customer service leaves a lot to be desired. I don't know how they get away with it.
