Telling you because I can't tell anyone else

I am just posting here because I can't tell anyone else and I am very proud of DS15. Just under a year ago he walked away from a sport that he was very good at (national level) due to bullying by his peers and to a certain extent by his coaches.

He decided to take up running to keep fit but because of his experiences refused to joing any group even the super casual adult groups that were willing to have him because the idea of organised training was too much.

Well without telling anyone and without training for it he decided to see if he could run a marathon as a personal challenge. And he did. Through sheer grit and determination he ran a marathon with no support, no crowds cheering him on, no reward of a medal and bragging rights at the end. Just him and his thoughts and 26.2 miles. He wasn't going to tell me but I found out as his Garmin is linked to my email address and I got a notification. He doesn't want to tell anyone, doesn't want me to tell anyone he just wanted to do it for himself so he knew he could do it.

Anyway I think that shows a remarkable level of self worth for a teenager and he's a better man than me because if I ever did anything like that I would need all the likes and congratulations going and would definitely be milking it for a while.

Well done your DS, that's an amazing achievement and shows a real inner strength and resilience. You are quite right to feel immensely proud of him! 😊
