Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just about to finish my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot. The cats have had breakfast & raced around like loons for a while but now it's all quiet so I guess they've gone back to bed. I'll make a coffee in a minute and sort my tablets for the coming week.

The only plans we have for the day are to carry on packing - the girls' dad is going in the loft, today, for the Christmas stuff and old suitcases. There are a couple of boxes of Halloween decs and some Easter crafty things from when I ran the local Rainbows unit to come down too. I'm not sure what else is up there so will get him to check.

I think I'll need to ask work to save boxes from the next kitchen delivery to swap some of it into this week.

I booked a storage unit yesterday, from next Saturday. Christ knows where the things we'll actually need between then & being properly kicked out are meant to go 🤷‍♀️.

Dd2's got a bit of homework to finish off so I'll see if she wants to sit down here and do it with company. No idea what dd1 has planned - sleep til 1 then potter about with no sense of urgency probably 🤣. She needs to pack actually, she's heading back to London tomorrow evening for the final 6 weeks of her first year at uni! How quickly has that gone!!?

This evening it's roast chicken for tea, with giant Yorkshires. Then showers all round, and prepare for tomorrow in court. I have a viewing before that so hopefully this is the one!

What about all of you? 🙂

Decluttering clothes and job applications.

Good morning (ish)@lucysmamand all.
I hope your next viewing is the one.

I’m on a go slow today after a very fun but exhausting day out yesterday with my lovely work friends…several fancy cocktails were consumed so I’m a teeny bit jaded.
Went for an early walk with Dh and picked up some nice bits for lunch in the small snippet of sunshine this morning, and haven’t got much further than drinking coffee, scrolling and listening to music since.
I have some school work to do, will go to my mum’s for a couple of hours this afternoon, and we plan to watch the Brits later after toad in the hole for tea.

I've put a load of washing on, done some paperwork for my volunteering role, and have plans for some batch cooking but that's all procrastination for the work I should be catching up on!

Good afternoon! I’ve just finished brunch and having second cup of tea watching Location Location Location on the iPad while obviously scrolling on my phone! Dishwasher churning away. I’ve got a spell on the treadmill to come, then I’ve got pesky ‘life admin’ to do, mainly get our ESTA visas for the US trip later this month, and some work for my Etsy shop. Pork stir fry for dinner and I’m watching a French series The Bureau which means I can’t scroll as I have to read the subtitles!
I’m curios @lucysmamwhy your DD is going back to uni just now? Isn’t she about to get Easter break in two/three weeks? Unless she’s not on a normal three term course? My DD is back home in three weeks for a month then goes back for what they call Easter term (though I’d have called it summer term), with the year over end of June.

lucysmam · 01/03/2026 12:56

@mondaytosunday they had a reading week the week just gone, and then 6 weeks until final assessments for the year. So no, it doesn't seem to be a regular 3 term year 🤷‍♀️

Good not morning anymore. I managed to complete the Brighton half marathon this morning in the rain, I was around the two hour mark, I won’t share my actual time or you could find my name! I’ve got a bad ankle but luckily it didn’t cause too many problems, so many runners were in those new style running shoes that cost stupid amounts of money, some of them are £350!

I hope you start getting some more luck soon @lucysmam, I agree, I do think there needs to be major rental reform in the UK, its also such a shame we don’t have more sociap housing. If it came to it could your daughter live between your home and her dads if he ends up being closer to her school? Its worth keeping the schools exams officer up to date, you never know it may enable her to get a small uplift via special consideration.
