I'm just about to finish my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot. The cats have had breakfast & raced around like loons for a while but now it's all quiet so I guess they've gone back to bed. I'll make a coffee in a minute and sort my tablets for the coming week.

The only plans we have for the day are to carry on packing - the girls' dad is going in the loft, today, for the Christmas stuff and old suitcases. There are a couple of boxes of Halloween decs and some Easter crafty things from when I ran the local Rainbows unit to come down too. I'm not sure what else is up there so will get him to check.

I think I'll need to ask work to save boxes from the next kitchen delivery to swap some of it into this week.

I booked a storage unit yesterday, from next Saturday. Christ knows where the things we'll actually need between then & being properly kicked out are meant to go 🤷‍♀️.

Dd2's got a bit of homework to finish off so I'll see if she wants to sit down here and do it with company. No idea what dd1 has planned - sleep til 1 then potter about with no sense of urgency probably 🤣. She needs to pack actually, she's heading back to London tomorrow evening for the final 6 weeks of her first year at uni! How quickly has that gone!!?

This evening it's roast chicken for tea, with giant Yorkshires. Then showers all round, and prepare for tomorrow in court. I have a viewing before that so hopefully this is the one!

What about all of you? 🙂

Good morning lucysmam and others. I was sorry to hear that yesterday's viewing was a washout.

I've had two coffees and a cuppa with two slices of toast so I'm ready to face the day. A better sleep too. I have no real plans for today. I'll need to get some money out of the hole in the wall to put in dds birthday card for tomorrow. I might make soup which means I'll have to buy leeks and lentils. Apart from that, either a chicken pot pie or stovies. Enjoy your day

frozendaisy · 01/03/2026 09:43

Morning morning
drinking coffee watching news tv which we don’t normally do
feeling a bit oh god about the world

not the best start

boys off to farm volunteering
I have a thousand jobs
eldest has driving lesson
football is on tv later
roast chicken dinner for more additional teens than usual

but hey feeling lucky that we can complain about such things this morning

(and have of course decided that our teens will go to prison before joining any required army)

i am sure we will return to normal once we turn news channels off

Mangomarg · 01/03/2026 09:51

Trying not to focus on the news but its everywhere.
Being grateful im not in a country getting missiles dropped on them!

Happy Sunday all,

Sorry to hear about your troubles lucysmam I'm a regular on your threads and I'm sorry this is happening.

I know its trite (and a bit condescending) but I'm a great believer in things working out in the end. Although I also know that we often have to overcome great adversity first. I'm a renter too and it's such a precarious position. TL;DR I'm sending you lots of positive vibes and I hope you find your new home soon.

Today for us is a mixed bag. DC1 is off to a friends house soon and he'll be gone until this eveing. A little group of them are meeting and heading off for table tennis and then back to one of the lads house for a few hours gaming.

I'm on chore duty. Airers cleared, 1st lot of washing in, cat litter trays having their bi-weekly clean (soaking in the bath at the moment), pile of ironing for later and then I'm batch cooking this afternoon. Will do a beef stew, a pot of tomato sauce (goes over pasta on it's own but is nice over chicken breast as an easy meal) and either a chilli or bolognese. Boring but everyone eats it and means we get decent, home cooked meals in the week.

DP is taking the girls out for a bike ride and to an adventure playground. DC2 doesn't have a bike so she'll be using DC1's monster to see how she gets on before we decide on a new bike. We sized up with DC1 and he's had an adult size bike for a while now.

This eveing will be a film and an early night.

School offer day tomorrow for DC2 . Eeeeek!!

DilemmaDelilah · 01/03/2026 09:56

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone.

This morning I packed most of what I will need for our little local holiday next Friday. It's mostly swimsuits, jumpers and trousers of some description! There will be at least 5 swimsuits, I have kept one out for swimming on Tuesday. We're not planning on going out much, if at all, and I will be swimming at least twice a day. It's North Devon, in early March, in the wettest year since FOREVER so I have to take lots of swimsuits to ensure that I have a dry one to put on every time. My wellies are already in the car. I tried to book myself a facial (my regular holiday treat) while we are there but they were fully booked.

I have been to look at my seedlings. The ones that had sprouted now have little tiny leaves, and there are other seeds sprouting where there were none before. I'm looking forward to planting them out... eventually, and to eating what they produce... even more eventually!

I don't have anything planned for today, apart from keeping our laundry up to date. We do need to make some more flapjacks for our post/delivery people, so I will probably do that in a minute.

Chicken and vegetable stir fry for me this evening. Mr Dilemma will probably have faggots and pease pudding. He doesn't want stir fry so he will fend for himself. I will probably cut up most of the veg this morning while I'm doing the flapjacks, or maybe while Mr Dilemma does the flapjacks. He's good at it and enjoys doing things he's good at!

Peacexbliss · 01/03/2026 09:58

Waiting for my iceland delivery to come later.
No house work to do so, will binge out with youtube.
And laze around alday in pjs, eating crap.

gingercat02 · 01/03/2026 09:59

Nightmare your eviction is getting so close, it's been a long slog. Is your LL selling? I can't remember the story.
Normal Sunday here, off to my class shortly, DH is going to tidy the kitchen and go for a run. Usual washing and prep for the week.
We might go out for tea as DS did really well in his business exams, so a little celebration is needed.

Autumngirl5 · 01/03/2026 10:00

I am working. The NHS never stops though thankfully not too busy today! Have a good day everyone!

reversegear · 01/03/2026 10:08

I’m about to jump up shower, gym, food shop. Then walk the dogs, wash the dogs, clean up after the dogs!! I’m so so sick of this rain now my house smells like mud. Trying to think of a lovely meal this evening that doesn’t involve doing a roast.

Thislittlekitten · 01/03/2026 10:11

Good Morning Everyone

Been up for a bit. Made breakfast for me and anyone else who was up. Wash on. Clothes hung up. Quite productive. In bed with a cup
of tea before I take DDog out. I have 2 cats and my boy who is very much an outside cat is currently purring on me wanting cuddles. Very rare so I dare not move!

This afternoon my team are playing. So I will watch that while studying. Then top up shop and need to think about tea.

Busy week ahead at work so hopefully time to read later and relax. Oh DS has a club later 🙈

@lucysmam Best of luck tomorrow for viewing and court. I’ll be thinking of you.

DaisyMayBojangles · 01/03/2026 10:16

I’m planning on getting out in the front garden and giving it a good clear.
Upset about a personal situation atm so trying not to think about it, and find things to keep me busy.

TheChosenTwo · 01/03/2026 10:21

Went for a swim first thing, it was quite rainy!
home and showered and warming up now, we are all getting ready to go and visit dc at uni, have got plans for a late lunch.
Will be lovely but it’s so miserable out there and secretly all I really want to do is curl up by the fire with my book, catch up on a bit of washing and change my sheets. Of course I’ll get time to do all of that later on though and I’m looking forward to visiting dc!

lucysmam · 01/03/2026 10:26

@gingercat02 no, we asked for some repairs to be done - things he had previously been to look at & had quoted for. He sent someone to wipe walls & paint them, with no equipment. I queried it, told I was wrong (man came on foot with a bag smaller than my handbag to sort mould creeping along the ceiling over the stairs - not entirely sure how he intended to reach but he said he'd been told to wipe it off & paint over it - he had his Inspector Gadget arms with him maybe). I involved Environmental Health &2 weeks after their report arrived, eviction paperwork arrived.

Presumably he'll just paint over it & rent it out again. Environmental Health have ignored several attempts at contact to find out if any of the work was actually to be done.

So, the lesson here, as a tennant, is that we're the lowest of the low & shouldn't expect the homes we pay a fortune for to be in decent condition for us & our families. I'm even more sure of this after seeing the state someone was trying to rent out, yesterday. It's made worse by the fact that we'll end up in some sort of temp accom, and paying the landlord's court costs. All because I asked for repairs to be done properly.

(That turned into a rant, sorry).

Good morning everyone, fingers still firmly crossed for you @lucysmam 🤞🏻
Drizzly dog walk earlier, no one else out so very peaceful, lots of birdsong and some hedges beginning to come into bud.
I have made a couple of lasagna, one for the freezer, done an online grocery shop, cleaned up the kitchen, dishwasher is on, so is the tumble dryer and the dogs are asleep. All very peaceful at the moment.
Chicken Forestière from M&S for dinner, it’s been in the freezer for ages, with mash and broccoli.
I quite fancy doing some Goldwork embroidery this year, I have all the materials (bought several years ago 😊) but that’s as far as it went. I can set everything up in my Shed so I don’t have any excuses, haha!
I have dug out a pile of Stitch magazines, I have several unread books somewhere that I need to actually read. So, that’s a plan at the moment.
It still grey, chilly and drizzly here, so I will get another coffee and carry on procrastinating 😁

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 01/03/2026 10:33

Good morning @lucysmam & everyone. Meant to say yesterday that I really hope you get sorted with your house situation @lucysmam. Just for a change, it’s raining here in Cornwall! Up very early as DM was restless. She was wandering around last night but luckily didn’t fall. Both my folks are currently sound asleep in the lounge. I’ve had a lovely shower, washed & styled my hair with a new Denman brush ( thank you Boots Advantage points!) & now seriously considering doing the washing up! Will drive down to the village shop for a paper after that. Shocked how much a Sunday Observer costs now - over £4! DF has seemingly endless tokens for free “ I” newspapers in the week & on Saturdays. Not sure what’s for tea. Might suggest the chippy. Once I get back home, I need to eat more healthily again as I’ve been existing on ready meals. DF is still able to cook but I haven’t done any proper cooking here as the oven is temperamental to say the least! Just remembered that I have online staff training which usually makes me lose the will to live! I wouldn’t mind if it was actually relevant to my job! Looking forward to Call The Midwife this evening.

blizymitzy · 01/03/2026 10:44

Morning everyone
we are empty nesters now and

have lovely days everyone

lucysmam · 01/03/2026 10:44

@MarmaladeSandwich7 I, too, have some online training to be done. It's one of those that tells you things you already know 🙄. Not priority this week so 🤷‍♀️. They can give me a bollocking for not doing it by their deadline if they want.

Morning everyone. @lucysmam I’m so sorry your landlord turned on you like that. Hopefully fairness prevails tomorrow in court.

Over here I just finished attending a Sunday morning online yoga class and I’m not ready to move yet. Eventually I’ll have the rest of my breakfast and throw on a wash before heading out in the rain to go grocery shopping. Later this afternoon I’m heading to some friends’ house to review some documents together. More washing and personal business work afterward.

I didn’t get a chance to cook the pork roast yesterday so that’s what we’re having tonight. Have a good day everyone and stay dry.

FamingolosForDays · 01/03/2026 11:01

Oh @lucysmam im sorry. Have the LA homelessness service been involved? You may have grounds for an unlawful eviction if the papers arrived after you requested repairs. The LA service should have someone that can be assigned to you to work with you on this. (Sorry if you already know this/have one!)
I hope the viewing goes well today x

Lazed around in bed here for a few hours. All my plans got cancelled yesterday. I did go for a run though and spoke with my grandmother for 10 mins on my way back. I can see some blue patches in the sky so going to hang some washing out and put my bathroom back together. (I did some houseplants surgery yesterday and they need putting back).
Will have to get showered and dressed as meeting a friend for lunch later. Then home to get ready for the week ahead before the DC come back.

Rainbow1235 · 01/03/2026 11:08

good morning Lucysmam and to you all . Realy hope everything goes well for u at court tomorrow il be thinking of you . Got 10 for dinner today so it will be a mad one 😆. Nice to see them all tho and later I’m goin to pack a few bits as I’m away to Brecon next weekend with sister in laws and nieces . Have a great and safe day all 🫶

Tangerinesattack · 01/03/2026 11:18

Morning all.
Just having a coffee in my craft room (which sees very little crafting right now ). I'm desperate to cut my hours at work to give me some time to myself after several challenging years but work just keeps knocking me back. I'm feeling a bit down about it this weekend but I'll need to get over it unless I want to go the full union / OH route. Don't know that I do! I'm very conflict adverse.

We're about to go out for some follow-up seaweed foraging and then might pop to a local castle which has an open day today. The lunch we have planned is baked eggs with pepper dulse and sea muff (!) but that'll depend on what we find. Might just be with cheese! Bath later (didn't get one yesterday) then some chill time. Roast chicken for dinner. Have a great day everyone.

Bringyourfoldingchair · 01/03/2026 11:48

Morning everyone. Have had a coffee and then some tea and toast in bed this morning. Got up and tidied downstairs, did the washing and ironing and put some pork in the slow cooker for this evening. Oh and an online food shop to be delivered tomorrow.

Going to get dressed soon and make some lunch and then we are taking DCs to the cinema in the afternoon. It’s raining here atm but if it brightens up maybe a walk after. I should do some more tiding in the garden. Got the grass cut yesterday and it’s in need of a good brush in preparation for my annual bleaching the green off the paving. But I really can’t be bothered!

Dinner and then some stranger things with DS12 this evening. Enjoy your day everyone.

Good luck for tomorrow @lucysmam

onelumporthree · 01/03/2026 11:59

Today is the first day I feel normal again after having had a week of the most horrible cold/flu thing.

I've been out this morning and bought a new kettle. DH has been keeping on top of the housework while I've been unwell, but there's always something to do isn't there? He's just gone out for a walk while I sit here drinking coffee and contemplating whether I can be bothered to put a load of laundry on or not. We have family coming round for dinner later and we're having a big chicken & ham pie instead of a roast for a change.

I might go into the garden shortly and see if there's anything not too strenuous to do out there. I've also got to prepare for my hobby club event this coming week as muggins here has been nominated to give a demo & talk to beginners.

My novel isn't going to write itself, so I might do some more of that later as well.

UnexpectedCurveBall · 01/03/2026 12:00

My dad has just arrived for a two week visit (we live abroad) which is lovely. Business of the day is helping my 18 year old daughter tell her granddad that’s she’s pregnant. We found out on Wednesday and am still processing it all myself and feeling highly emotional today that’s she’s put such a curveball in her life, contemplating the changes she’s just put in my life (she’s at uni so still a dependant), while reminding myself that every life is a gift.

Oh wow, that's so bad! Private landlords are the lowest of the low. One tried to keep our deposit because we put the wrong watt light bulb in a lamp!
