When you watch Gladiators…

…anyone else always wanting the Gladiators to win, rather than the contenders??

I assumed everyone wanted the Gladiators to win. But I was surprised watching Gogglebox last night to see them all cheering on the contenders. Now I’m wondering if it’s just us (to be honest I find a lot of the contenders to be cocky and annoying…)

On a side note… how funny was it tonight 😂😂

I mean to be fair I don’t think there is a single one of them I don’t fancy.

When we watch Gladiators we always complain that it's on at about 5pm, then feel a bit weird that the arena audience seems to be eight year old boys and their grandmothers. Is it not aimed at childfree forty-somethings?

Edited to add: yes, real life Viper is the sexiest by a mile. I think they should sack off him playing the heel and switch him to face.

Absolutely love the Gladiators - I went to the live show in December!

it was strange on Saturday though, the competitors don’t seem anywhere near the usual standard, and my wee heart broke for the girl that kept falling at the monkey bars!

love all the gladiators, think they’re warming up to the interview banter etc. they’re putting videos on instagram where they’re doing impersonations of each other and they’re hilarious 🤣 viper looks completely different in real life - I think he’s the only one that you wouldn’t recognise as a gladiator if you saw him outside the show!

My favourites are Fury, Cyclone, Apollo & Legend. I love Apollo’s hair, it’s always in place. I wonder if he ‘does’ his hair after each round as it’s never out of place.
I also prefer the solo rounds, I don’t like it when multiple gladiators compete with both competitors at the same time. I like the running one where they have to smash through the wall and the swinging one where the gladiators wrap around the contestants to pull them down.

Fury is my favourite gladiator, she always gives appreciation and credit to the contenders (even when she easily beat them)
Others (and I know to a point they are playing characters) seem arrogant, and get stroppy if the contenders wins a few points. Legend is exempt from this of course, because he does it in a more humorous way!

Reviving this thread to ask, is anyone else dying to know why Giant is leaving Gladiators?

What on earth could they be doing in series 4 that is so different to series 1-3 that it doesn’t align with his values??

omg I am quite gutted I won’t lie

I saw on instagram (so take it with a pinch of salt) that he said on a podcast he had purposely dropped quite a bit of weight to level out his physical/mental health and the show was wanting him to bulk back up for filming but he was feeling healthier at his current weight than he had for years and didn’t want to do it.

Tbf that makes total sense. I am gutted, Giant is so brilliant, but if he's protecting his mental and physical health then total respect to him and disappointed the show weren't supporting him with that. Appreciate it's not definitely that but certainly would make sense.

I had noticed that he has lost some of his bulk so this could well be it.
