When you watch Gladiators…

…anyone else always wanting the Gladiators to win, rather than the contenders??

I assumed everyone wanted the Gladiators to win. But I was surprised watching Gogglebox last night to see them all cheering on the contenders. Now I’m wondering if it’s just us (to be honest I find a lot of the contenders to be cocky and annoying…)

On a side note… how funny was it tonight 😂😂

@blueysmum5they definitely edited a few goes on the travelator out of the one we saw being filmed. Both brilliant women, strong contenders who just really struggled at the end.

They didnt play this week but I find powerball a strange concept (and looks particularly brutal! ) .
Considering the gladiators are always significantly bigger/stronger than competitors, it seems bonkers to have 3 of them v 2.
A few weeks ago in the women's competition, they consistently targeted one contestant where 2 gladiators would tackle her, and the other gladiator against the other competitor. Consequently the one who was always fending off 2 gladiators barely scored a point! I feel like they should mix it up, it seemed v unfair (although generally its unfair in the men's game if one contender faces giant, and the other faces viper! )

Sid was a bit robbed tbh. It was like his shoe came off and no one knew what to do. He shouldn’t really have had to ask for it (although to be honest he should have stopped and put it back on at the point it came off).

As for Nikki falling - do they not get a chance to practice the eliminator? I assumed they did get to practice/train on all the games etc but maybe I’m wrong?

She was too short for that part of the course. They give boxes to the short contenders to get onto the rings on Hang Tough - they really should have considered that for the monkey bars too.

Yeah I agree, it wasn’t fair. I just mean if she’d practiced it surely that issue would have come to light at that point. Seems unfair and I was annoyed that the 😛 woman won

I thought it was really unfair that she couldn't reach! And she was lucky not to hurt herself (twice!) the way she fell nearly hitting herself on the platform.

They definitely should have stopped it to let Sid put his shoe on.

I agree these were 4 weak contenders this week. There's been some brilliant ones. Looking forward to the quarter finals now!

I don't root for the gladiators but I do love it when they 'win'.

We did laugh and say whoever meets the winners of this weekends episode in the next round will sail through. They were all so bad it was hilarious. And that’s the final edited version so how bad must it have been in reality.

Completely agree about Sid's shoe. We all felt he was robbed and I thought it was a health and safety issue. If they weren't going to stop for him to put it back on, they should at least have brought it round ready to put on before the travelator, instead of him having to wait. Mo was absolutely not the best contender so that felt pretty unfair.

To your question, OP, we normally choose who will think will win and who we want to win at the start. There's Gladiators we like but we're always cheering for at least one of the contenders. Saturday was a bit embarrassing all round, although I do have to say they all did significantly better than I would have managed!

I think your supposed to support the contenders. -isn’t that the point of the show

I think they should have paused it while he put his shoe on, totally unfair to expect him to climb back down and get his shoe, put it on etc.

I've just caught up on Saturday's show - brilliant!

• Viper actually talking
• Legend as a referee
• All the disqualifications
• The shoe loss (and longest eliminator of the series!)

But Viper's body?! 😊 He's kept that well hidden!

Legend as a referee had us laughing our heads off! Especially when they said they need to check the VR. He's just naturally so funny.

Cyclone had me laughing when she was like "We train so hard and come here for a fight and you bring us the smallest people I have ever seen in my life! What is this?" 🤣

Yes, as a fellow shorty, I think that was my favourite part of Saturday's episode 😂

That cracked us up too! I'm not a Cyclone fan generally, I think she's trying too hard to be mean, but that was funny.

I really like Cyclone, she's an incredible Gladiator and is warming up to the interview stuff.

I follow legend on social media, he has a gorgeous house - beautiful indoor pool!

Nearly always cheer on the Gladiator, so much so that I don’t even bother to watch the Eliminatior most of the time.

Viper is actually the most attractive of all of the male gladiators. Have a look over on instagram. Without the scowl and dressed normally he is so different and almost unrecognisable and really good looking also not as insanely tall or as bulky as some of the others.

I can't stand bradley's son. The worst case of nepotism. He has no charisma at all.

Omg, I looked him up after reading this and one of the 'people also asked' searches was: 'Is Viper Wolf's son gladiator?' 😂 And even though I was pretty confident of the answer, I still clicked it 🙃 😅 😂

You're right though, he is quite beautiful without the scowl!

Yes I normally route for the gladiators, depending on who it is. I always want the cocky contenders to lose.

I had a bit of a lightbulb moment like you, but about Traitors. I automatically want Faithful to win. And then I thought that maybe others were rooting for Traitors.

after thinking about it, I can see why both sides think what they do. Some of us root for underdogs (in both games, either side can be seen as that.) some of us prefer the status quo. And again, both sides can be seen as that.
