What’s your Friday night looking like?

I’m absolutely knackered after 2 nights of parents’ evening and a very wet and hectic last day of term, so this evening I’m celebrating the start of half term with a glass of red, a fire and control of the remote (Dh is out and ds16 will probably be in his room gaming)
Haven’t decided what to watch yet - I fancy a feel good quirky film if anyone has any recommendations.
What’s everyone else’s Friday night looking like?

Half term for me is a week away. Tonight has been washing and a sandwich for tea. Nice hope shower and hair wash. Pjs on and waiting on the grocery delivery so I can then go to bed as am shattered.

Oh the teenager had texted from
his room asking if we have chocolate and any cans of fizzy juice. Yes to both of those so he has ventured out his lair

Not too long home from work. Made and eaten some fried rice (loads of crispy chilli oil) for dinner for me and DP. Watching YouTube, having a Diet Coke. Might watch an episode of 24hrs in Police Custody then catch an early night as up at 6am for work tomorrow.

It's my partner's turn to put Dd to bed so I've got into bed too. Been sleeping a lot this week, 8-9 hours a night compared to my usual 6-7, not sure why. Got to work the next 3 days, 8 days in a row so feel like i need a good rest, then off for half term with Dd, looking forward to it.

mamaduckbone · 13/02/2026 19:08

@purpleme12that sounds tough. Hope you get some respite.
Lots of blankets, telly and chilled evenings - this endless bloody rain doesn’t make going anywhere remotely appealing does it?
I’ve seen Knives Out @frozendaisybut thanks for the idea. I’ve just started ‘Small Prophets’ on IPlayer which is ticking all the boxes (except it’s not a film) so that’s my evening sorted.

DH came in very excited brandishing two bottles of sparkling Shiraz he’d found,
when he was in Majestic Wines today. We used to drink it years ago and he hadn’t managed to find it again until now. We’re going to catch up on Under Salt Marsh then watch the final episode of Lord of the Flies while drinking wine and I’ve made a charcuterie board up to go along with it.

Today was the last day of half term here. Took this kids to the beach in the morning followed by the cinema and a lazy McDonald’s dinner which meant no cooking and most importantly the kitchen is tidy from breakfast so zero tidying or cleaning this evening. I’m about to get in the bath with a glass of wine while DH puts the kids to bed.

I'm absolutely exhausted after taking my class out on a trip all day today.
I've already watched the first 3 episodes of How to get to Heaven from Belfast. I'm bloody loving it, so it's pizza and episode 4 coming up as soon as I can be arsed to move and chuck the pizza in the oven!

Our friends are currently renovating our new absolute shithole of a HA house, one sent dh a photo of a painted bedroom earlier... It was the wrong paint for the room, the child who least likes pinks new room is now pink instead of the yellow she chose 😂i think even ds would be less bothered about it had it been his room! someone's obviously moved the can out of the correct room when taping the ceiling or lining the walls (I suspect it was our current landlord, flecking gem of a man but daft as hell)

All tins definitely in the right rooms for the 4 friends going in to smash it tomorrow. So I'm currently sat on the kitchen worktop of this absolute shit hole dreading walking home in the snow but there's wine there and I really dislike this house.

On train going home from work . Train is too hot and I have a puffy coat on. Am roasting 😭

TheReaderIs · 13/02/2026 19:49

Bathed my youngest, did the bedtime routine, put clean sheets on my bed and hoovered my bedroom so it’s nice for later 💕 Planning on pizza for tea and I’ll watch Drag Race 😀

I have a poorly DD lay next to me with a poorly tummy think we're in for a long night.

Was up at 1.30 because my sleep pattern is screwed, has been for years. Parents’ evening last night, full day with a meeting at lunch today. It’s been mad.

I noticed that the students were extremely tired this week. One of my best lads nearly fell asleep first lesson! Normally he’s jumping out of his seat to participate.

Nannyfannybanny · 13/02/2026 20:25

Had dinner, loaded the dishwasher cleared up. DH cooked tonight..I took out our 2 border collies, one at a time, shorter walk for the 11 year old, then a longer walk for the 2 year old. Now tucked up on the sofa with a glass of water. Gerd and hiatus hernia, dared not touch alcohol, and a film. I absolutely loved small prophets. It takes a lot to make me laugh, but that did the trick.

So I will be drinking booze and eating cheese and crackers with a dog on my knee, whilst watching crap TV and scrolling Vinted.

Cosy on the couch watching the Winter Olympics with a warm blanket and the heating on. Its bliss.😊

Fraudornot · 13/02/2026 20:35

Lovely - adult children finished work/uni and we all went out for a few drinks then settled in with a comfort tea and tv

Rachierach11 · 13/02/2026 20:36

Very similar to yours. Had an early tea with the kids and now they’re in bed so we’re sitting by the fire with a lovely bottle of red and watching some olympics and snuggling the dog
