How long are passport applications taking right now?

Has anyone put in a UK passport application recently? How long are they taking. I’m travelling in 3 weeks and don’t know whether to fast track but I don’t live near London (or another passport office)

That's spooky, my wife did her renewal with exactly the same dates! Did the application on Sunday night and I posted it on Monday morning.

My mum's just renewed hers and it took a week. No fast track or anything like that.

DH did his on Monday evening - posted his old pp on Tuesday am. I’ll let you know when it arrives. He didn’t need an ID check.

They're very quick. I got a child passport renewal in early Jan and it took 8 days. My DSis renewed her adult passport in late Jan and it took 5 days.

Yes, form is online. You get the photos taken in a photo booth and you get a digital code that you upload with your online form. The only in-person bit is posting off your old passport.

it will be tight as I used to work as a supplier to the PO. No one really lives close to an office. There are only a handful in the country!

Be really careful about the application to ensure no typo's.

My niece had one of those 10 years plus passports so it looks like its valid for 10 9 months but actually for travelling purposes its just 10 years. She was refused travel when she arrived at the airport and the check in agent said it happens every day and some people really struggle with understanding the new rules.
