to "Clear the cobwebs"

Do people do this?! is this a thing? To drink quite a many some cocktails, and instead of a cracking Mcdonalds breakfast, full sugar coke and laying in a dark room avoiding anyone else in the house, you go on a PARKRUN?!

Fucking madness

It is a thing.

One of my friends set her parkrun pb after a night on tequila and 3 hours sleep.

I think she just couldn't feel the pain 😂

Normal people stagger round feeling rough and then go for breakfast, that usually does the trick

chutneypig · 08/02/2026 16:20

We regularly have groups from stag and hen dos at ours - usually with varying degrees of enthusiasm amongst them!

Lovelanza · 08/02/2026 16:37

Some of my best parkruns and races were after a sesh !

grafittiartist · 08/02/2026 16:38

It’s a great way to cure a hangover!
The sugar from the alcohol probably helps.

Yep, a run (or other vigorous exercise) is the best cure for a hangover. It that I often follow my own advice!

BauhausOfEliott · 08/02/2026 16:41

Christ, Parkrun’s bad enough even when I’m not hungover. I’d rather stab myself in the face than do it while already feeling like shit. Hideous.

It’s not the running itself, it’s everything about it.

I would not recommend riding a horse over jumps. 😳

99pwithaflake · 08/02/2026 16:58

Yep, getting out and running or exercising is often the best hangover cure.

not that I ever followed it

MTOandMe · 08/02/2026 16:58

I’m sure there are many people who are this way inclined. I, however, am not. The last terrible hangover I had was the day I was supposed to be doing our holiday ironing/packing. For every item of clothing I ironed, I had to have a lay down.

Clearinguptheclutter · 08/02/2026 17:00

Yep

i know a group of people who parkrun after being up all night and literally don’t go to bed h til after it
(I’m nowhere near that hardcore!)

RunningAndSinging · 08/02/2026 17:00

Well if it’s a Saturday morning then a parkrun is just what you do whatever you were up to the night before surely?

I am another one with a parkrun PB obtained after a late and alcohol fuelled night.

50NotFat · 08/02/2026 17:04

I’ve done a couple of races after a boozy night out. It helps sweat it out!

PiggyPlumPie · 08/02/2026 17:15

Did my best ten mile race after getting in at 4am from clubbing! Think I was still drunk tbh.

Fupoffyagrasshole · 08/02/2026 17:17

I get up and go to the Lido after a night out ! A jump in the cold pool is a good shock to the system and helps me feel a lot better..

BlackCat14 · 08/02/2026 17:22

I’m not fit or sporty at all, but sitting around at home festering does nothing to help me with a hangover. I often go swimming, the water sorts me right out! Discovered this tip on holiday in Ibiza when I was 18, never looked back.

I had a friend who swore by hot yoga for a hangover. I would have collapsed.

Scottymcscotface · 08/02/2026 17:31

I have been known to run early next morning after a heavy night of drinking. It definitely clears out the cobwebs. It’s a great hangover cure. In the kill or cure sort of category. I might follow it with a full cooked breakfast and fat coke though. And ideally not a parkrun or any run with other people to see me milo round crying into my sleeve.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 08/02/2026 17:31

You wanna block her babe, she sounds toxic xx

gototogo · 08/02/2026 17:33

It’s a thing, I used to, have seen the light and nipped to the coop yesterday evening from the pub for bacon as it’s far more enjoyable, washed down with coffee

TheChosenTwo · 08/02/2026 17:34

I’m shit on a hangover and as a result I now barely drink!
My hangovers used to look like me lying in bed and at some point feeling able to drink a can of cold Coke. I’d have died if I considered anything more 🥴
Now I’m up early on a Saturday and a Sunday morning for exercise and I bloody love it - just not on a hangover thanks!

Well no, as I have never done a Parkrun on a Saturday morning.
