Separate duvets - how does it work??

So DH and I have finally reached the point of complete incompatibility in bed 😂. He’s recently lost lots of weight / insulation, has always preferred to be very warm in bed and has started sleeping under a weighted blanket. Ive always preferred a cooler sleep, but now have peri-menopausal feet of fire and hot flushes to contend with each night. With the weighted blanket on top of our double duvet, I can’t even move my side of it during the night 🙄 so German - style separate duvets it is.

Oyr bed is big 180cm x 200cm. What size duvet should we aim for? Chat reckons 200x220cm. And how does it look remotely tidy during the day?

I'm the warm one, DH is always cold. We have a double bed and 2 double duvets. DH also adds two blankets on top of his duvet and usually wraps up burrito style. I end up with it kicked off more often than not. In warmer weather, I usually use a double flat sheet or a double quilted blanket.

We had a king sized bed and a double duvet each. During the day I layered them up so only one showed on top.

Same, ive got the night owls ones that don't need covers as well, and they are machine washable. Its stopped so many arguments in the middle of the night 🤣🤣

King sized bed and two single duvets here. They’re actually the same tog but single works. I feel like a double each would be too much loose duvet bunching up?

Super king bed and two IKEA singles here too.

I no longer suffer from being constantly disturbed by DH’s restless legs 😀

We’ve got a double bed, he has a double duvet and a weighted blanket which I bought him as he still kept using my covers even though we had separate . I have a king size duvet, I’m a bit in the big side but I also sleep with it between my legs which is the only way I can get to sleep. Been with separate duvets for about 15 years, best thing I ever did, now I’m not left with no covers especially in the winter 🤭

My DH is a terrible duvet stealer, he used to roll himself up in our shared duvet leaving me freezing. So we now have two single duvets and as I like a warmer bed, I have an extra blanket on top of mine.
