Wipe your phone camera before you take pictures- that haze isn’t atmospheric it’s scuzz on the lens.

Your diamond jewellery should sparkle, dirt and grime need to be removed regularly otherwise your pieces will become dull. Fairy liquid and a soft brush works wonders.

If You’ve lost a lot of weight recently change your glasses frames and hair style, the old styles were chosen for a different face shape. And well done!

Empty your handbag out, you’ve probably been carting around a bag of rubbish, same with your purse. Apple Pay is a dream by the way and as dangerous as carrying around your cards only your physical cards don’t have Face ID security.

When was the last time you cleaned the dishwasher filter? Use one of the Finish dishwasher cleaner cartridges too, makes a huge difference. Oh and fill up your salt and rinse aid.

M&S beans are 50p and divine - their chopped tomatoes the same and 55p.

Domestos over Toilet Duck every time, you can’t convince me otherwise, TD stinks

People who leave empty coffee cups and cans on shelves in shops are scumbags

I’ll add more ramblings as I remember things. Please add your own…

Never iron anything. Life is too short. Men can do their own shirts.

Now that is advice to live by 💯

If you run out of slippers try sticking sanitary towels to your feet instead.

My life is about to begin

StrawberryJamAndRaspberryPie · 29/01/2026 22:04

Who uses dishwasher salt or rinse aid?

Fatiguedwithlife · 29/01/2026 22:08

@StrawberryJamAndRaspberryPie I just got a new dishwasher and diligently bought salt and rinse aid like a good girl

Slightyamusedandsilly · 29/01/2026 22:18

If your kitchen sink/drain needs a good scrub (not dirt, just not shiny), do some handwashing. The washing power/liquid effortlessly leaves it sparkly and the drain will look like new.

But if you run out of sanitary towels, I’ve found slippers are too bulky to be of any use.

Read widely on the subjects of structuralism and the Arts and Crafts movement and become the perfect dinner party guest.

Structuralism is so under discussed and effects society from household to international level. And I am supporting the restoration of an arts & craft chapel.
Can I come for tea?

The OP is a bit weird but I have to reply to this to say that I bought a very good debobbler from the same company that does Mould Magic (Must Have Ideas, I think) and it’s very satisfying to restore jumpers to actually looking nice.

I got my debobbler from Home Bargains. I’m one of those people who love a bit of debobbling ( and ironing) …… x

Muffinmam · 30/01/2026 04:35

I enjoyed that.

I wash my jewellery - I’ve been doing it for over 20 years. I’ve bought special jewellery cleaner and a buffing cloths but I have found you can just put the jewellery in a cup of water with some detergent and boil it in the microwave and it does the same thing.

Heyhelga · 30/01/2026 09:30

Phone camera lens - agreed. The layer of crust on a phone lens is the technological version of dirt under the finger nails.

Jewellery - yep agree with this one too. It should sparkle like you see it in the shop window.

Dramatic change of hairstyle - I always presume is a sign someone has come out the other side of a traumatic episode in her life.

Handbags - hate to say but yeah I've become cashless. I'm a minimalist and carrying lots of cards etc is just clutter I don't need in my life. My handbag is also organised to a minimum of clutter.

Dirty dishwasher - I don't have a dishwasher. They just come across as filthy things to me and it's just one more thing that needs cleaning. Waste of water too.

M&S beans - can't say I've ever tried M&S beans. Will try and remember to grab some next time to see what the fuss is about. Beans are beans to me though. Maybe not the really cheap value own brand ones. Sauce is far too watery.

Domestos - whenever I see someone buying Domestos I presume she's a secret sadistic killer. 99.9% of germs is not enough for her.

Coffee cups and cans in shops - who on earth even goes around a shop with a drink in their hand?? People who leave rubbish on trains/buses though feel clearing their rubbish is a task beneath them. That or they are just plain lazy and they order via Deliveroo because they are too lazy to enough collect their junk food.
