JD Sport carrier bag

Bit niche but does anything think if I went into JD Sport they would let me buy one of their plastic bags??

DS has gone through the ones that came with stuff I bought him from there previously and there's nothing he fancies from there at the moment but his last beloved bag is hanging on by a thread!

Yep. It's no different to if you're buying shoes and they charge you for a bag.

if you're uncomfortable with the random ask, you could always say something like "sorry, I/my son/partner/friend" forgot to get a bag earlier and now we are struggling to carry everything. Can I please pay for a bag?"

TabbyBeast · 27/01/2026 12:34

That wording is brilliant, thank you!

I did think it's all promotion at the end of day but feel a bit awkward but you've helped put my mind at ease

We did this on Sunday. I think it was 40p. Now have a very happy 11 year old. X

TabbyBeast · 27/01/2026 13:39

Oh that's fantastic @Marilla1966Thank you for letting me know

When I buy something in there and they offer me a bag, I tend to ask for two as my DC use them all the time. I do the same in Urban Outfitters.

ILoveMyCaravan · 27/01/2026 14:42

You can buy new ones on eBay, also the Foot Asylum drawstring bags, great for sports/swimming.

BetterOffNow · 27/01/2026 14:43

I emailed them a few years back and they sent me 3 for nothing!

Ballycastle · 27/01/2026 14:58

The staff won't even give it a second thought!

TabbyBeast · 27/01/2026 14:58

Ilovemycaravan I just looked and they are being offered for nearly £6!!!! Suddenly I'm feeling much braver to ask in-store 🤣

Lost earring Next time I do buy something in there I'll definitely ask for two bags!

I've got three in my utility room cupboard, pretty sure I threw a couple away too. 🫣. I'll hold on to the others.

LemaxObsessive · 27/01/2026 16:00

I’d ask to buy 2/3 so you’ve a spare or two.

How nice to see the kids still using those bags, my son always had a JD sports or foot locker bag , 25 plus years ago for school. He just used to go in and ask for one if his got too scruffy and they always handed them over.

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 27/01/2026 16:34

It’s like the River Island bags from years, they were coveted items. The staff would give you an extra if you bought something and asked.

MarxistMags · 27/01/2026 16:38

I have done it. The shop assistant wasn't bothered, I suspect it happens all the time. It was the 2nd biggest size and I got it for Xmas cards and presents - it held a lot 😄
Unfortunately my son took it away and hasn't given it back.....😲

You throw away the thick bags with the drawstring? Who does that 😮

TabbyBeast · 27/01/2026 17:12

Seems like I'm in good company and I'll get some mum brownie points 😊

As far as I recall, I asked and nobody wanted them. DSs 14 and 24 definitely said no thanks.

Decorhate · 27/01/2026 18:08

Can I just mention that every single teenager uses these for PE kit and then they all get mixed up at school and kids take the wrong one home etc.

And parents cba to sew labels on the kit.

orangemouth · 27/01/2026 18:52

I tried to do this in the summer and was told they're not allowed to sell them on their own, but it sounds like others have had more luck.

Anywherebuthere · 27/01/2026 19:01

I tried to buy one of their behind the counter bags not so long ago and they refused saying it was only allowed with a product purchase.

I had no luck either
