No, not unless it was to attend a specific event eg a wedding.

It's an ok destination for a relaxed, good weather holiday. But I really can't see that it is interesting enough as a destination to spend all that time travelling and have just 1.5 days there. What is the point?

pinkspeakers · 21/01/2026 14:59

Sorry, I see now it is just over 2 days. But even so I wouldn't bother personally.

RandomUsernameHere · 21/01/2026 14:59

No, unless it was for a specific event.

SheilaFentiman · 21/01/2026 15:00

I would for a wedding or something.

So you would get to Tenerife c5pm on Sat and leave around midday on the Monday? Sunset in the Canaries is fast and quite early - I don't think you'd get any sun on the Saturday.

Starlight1979 · 21/01/2026 15:00

Probably not. We went to Crete last year for 5 nights (lack of holidays from work and budget) and even that was a bit of a waste of time after factoring in all the travel.

sorrynotathome · 21/01/2026 15:03

Stay home, whack the heating up and have a picnic in the lounge. You'll save money, time, the planet etc etc etc

hahagogomomo · 21/01/2026 15:03

I wouldn’t, for a short break I’d choose a nice spa hotel where I can lounge around in a warm pool all day, the pools aren’t heated properly I find oversea, way too cold

SheilaFentiman · 21/01/2026 15:03

I've been to a spa that had a 'beach room' which had loungers and bright lights (sunglasses provided) so you could mooch in there for a bit between treatments and feel the winter gloom lift a bit (along with the sauna and hot tub opportunities!) - could you look for something like that?

youalright · 21/01/2026 15:05

No couldn't be arsed but I hate travelling and don't live near an airport so far to much hassle

Moveoverdarlin · 21/01/2026 15:06

Nope.

ObladiObladah · 21/01/2026 15:07

No it’s morally bankrupt to fly so far for such a short period. Haven’t you heard of global warming?

Katiesaidthat · 21/01/2026 15:08

No, I couldn´t be bothered, and I am already in Spain, it´s too far away...but then, I hate sitting in planes for hours...

Crushed23 · 21/01/2026 15:08

inkyspells · 21/01/2026 14:55

I’m just desperate for any warmth really
Our main holiday isn’t till middle of June and it sees so far away

I know the feeling. We just did 2 nights in Miami (which is a 3-hour flight away for us). Flight times meant we got 3 full days.

Sat 6:30am flight, landing at 9:30am
Mon 10pm fight, landing at 1am

We left -10C weather and were on a beach in 27C weather. It was fantastic, would definitely do it again.

TheAutumnCrow · 21/01/2026 15:12

No I wouldn’t do that trip. Far too much time faffing around airports and transfers and flying for the sake of one complete day on a Sunday.

angelcake20 · 21/01/2026 15:14

Not unless you can find flight times that give you more time on arrival and departure days.

Cadenza12 · 21/01/2026 15:15

No.

RecordBreakers · 21/01/2026 15:24

I wouldn't, no.
To catch a flight leaving at 1pm, to allow for check in time and travel to airport, I'd have to leave home just before 9am at the latest (that's if I weren't nervous about traffic and delays, and that's from my closest airport). So you'd spend all day traveling, only have one day there in any sunshine, then to be coming back at midday, you'd presumably have to leave your hotel relatively early on the Monday (transfer pick ups, + check in and wait time at that airport).

inkyspells · 21/01/2026 15:29

If we don’t do this I’m thinking maybe a log cabin with hot tub for Friday -Monday (which I know isn’t in the sun but it’s a break )
Forest holidays is £465 for 3 nights which is tempting and only 1hr 35 drive for us

I know of people who go to Siam Park for the day. Cheap day return flights. Very do-able.

GOAT26 · 21/01/2026 15:36

I would absolutely go for the cabin - chilled bottle of wine, good films and food, wrap up for a forest walk then into the hot tub. Perfect!
Far preferable to picking up peoples germs on a plane.

notacooldad · 21/01/2026 15:40

Absolutely!

blankcanvas3 · 21/01/2026 15:41

I wouldn’t go further than 2 hours on a plane Friday-Monday, but that’s just me.

Trulyonthehamsterwheel · 21/01/2026 15:42

I would definitely do this, if going to Siam waterpark for the weekend. Wouldn’t bother if it was just to catch the sun though!

What’s your reason for going?

Proccy · 21/01/2026 15:44

No chance unless it's hen/stag do where it's unavoidable

Flicktick · 21/01/2026 15:49

No. Even if you lived next door to the airport and your hotel was within half an hour at the other end you'd leave home at say 1030am and arrive at the hotel realistically 7pm on the Saturday. You would probably have to checkout at 8am on the Monday. So one day of sun. This time of year the daylight hours are shorter and of course it might be cloudy. At best you would get 6 hours of sun.

I'd go for a nice UK hotel with a spa - indoor pool and some good food.
