what would your ideal partner be like

hi i was just having one of my dolly daydream moods and wondered what other people's ideal partner was. this is open to single, married and everything in between, it also doesn't negate your love for your partner if you have one, nobody is perfect but if people were, what would be your version of perfect?

physically:
jet black, wavy, long on top, shaved back and sides hair
bright blue or green eyes
full, soft lips
long nose
clean shaven or very very short beard
big hands with long fingers
very tall, tanned and muscular

personality:
very patient and encouraging
affectionate and emotionally open
enjoys deep and meaningful conversations
good in serious situations but not serious in ordinary times, funny and cheeky
very protective but not controlling in the least
not stuck in his ways, open and welcoming of change
not a drinker or partier in the least but not the watching tv and lazy day type either
loves animals and being around them
having plenty to boast about but not boastful at all
family orientated
masculine but gentle

other attributes:
smartly dressed day to day (think polo shirt, jumper and black trousers)
gives brilliant cuddles without expecting it to lead elsewhere
always up for random drives
can sleep with light and noise (i can't sleep without them)

Some of these sound like the description of a German Shepherd 🤣

I think on paper the "good" personality traits seem like a good idea but I'd quickly get bored with someone who ticked every box.

@MTOandMe I think I'd fight you for him.

i love german shepherds! if the ideal fantasy man had one, that would be a big bonus lol.

I wouldn't want someone so perfect they made me feel inadequate. Some of the things that annoy me about DH are just the flip side of things I love and admire e.g. determination and laser focus come in very handy and are attractive qualities but it also means he doesn't notice stuff going on around him.

What more do you need?

Currently doing the 6am BF for our 4 week old and this post made me laugh. Well done OP.

Also. I think I married your dream man... DH is 6’8 well built and everything on your list including the dark wavy hair, except he has brown eyes and he’s also Irish, decent career and very very thoughtful (think goes out early to my mothers to defrost her car for her when she has a long journey ahead kind of thoughtful etc).

He was a party animal in his younger days but has really curtailed it and become so family oriented in the past year, weekends are now more coffee and forest walks than lads nights out.

I feel quite grateful for the big ejit snoring beside me here. Must try to rein in the postpartum hormones and be nicer to him today.

PersephoneParlormaid · 23/01/2026 06:37

Silent but insisting he cook/clean/garden/DIY.

Meadowfinch · 23/01/2026 06:54

Honest, kind, hard working, optimistic, no addictions, no dodgy sexual preferences. Someone who expects an equal partnership not an unpaid cook/housekeeper.
If he could manage to be over 6 foot and on the lean side too, that would be perfect. 😁
