Has anyone just got the met office app updated?

Removed it - there are a number recommended on the weather board - I have the Norwegian YR

I much prefer it. Easier to use and much quicker to see things at a glance.

I’m trying to get used to it, I know I can dislike change for its own sake. But lots of the changes have made it harder to use! And decreased accessibility. How they thought this was better I’ll never know!

Why do I now have to go to separate screen to search for a location? I work all round the country and I need to search for different places most days of the week, so this is driving me mad. If it wasn’t for the fact I’ve found their forecast the most accurate, I’d delete it!

I like that I can open it, see 3/4 days forecast at once and see today’s hourly forecast at the same time.

You don’t need to - you can click locations on the top right of the screen and search there.

Thanks for mentioning the feedback form, I've just filled it in to tell them it's a big improvement, I used to find it quite clunky before and this is much more intuitive and has all the right information presented where I need it.

I started a thread about this a couple of days ago. I hate it!
The old one gave you everything you needed at a glance now you have to keep clicking into things.
My location isn't my location so I have to click into that.
It lost all my carefully saved alternative locations in the update.
The widget is useless - again wrong location, and it doesn't give an hourly temperature. The symbols are so small you can hardly see them.
And everything is black!

I commented on the met Office FB page when they announced the new app - the vast majority of responses weren't exactly favourable!

I've switched to The Weather Chanel for now but it isn't as good.

I hate it. The icons are tiny. Before when I clicked on it, I could easily swap between saved locations (I travel a lot) now they've all gone.

I loved the old app, Ive had it years after deleting the BBC app. I'll stick with it but will send feedback. My biggest problem with the new one is lack of accurate location.

I only use the Web version.
Have met office changed the app background so it "matches" the weather? They tried that with the web version and it was harder to read.
I gave feedback telling them it was really poor and have switched back to the normal, legible version with a white background.

Yes they have. I’ve complained about that bit too. It’s not ‘helpful’!

It's too black! I've looked to change background but can't see anything. I prefer BBC weather app.

I am so pleased it's not just me. It's awful and I've given feedback too.
I used to find it so much easier to read and access information at a glance, and now it's really clunky and way too dark. The top third of my screen is taken up with the animation of the current weather which I can already see by looking out of the window 🙄

Yes! I thought it was just me. It’s awful!

Mine is now blue, which is better than the black.*

But I still can’t see the ‘feels like’ temperatures through any given day. Presently the sodding little info box above the forecast is telling me it’ll feel like 5 at 9am tomorrow, with an X% chance of rain at 11pm. Dead helpful. Not.

*FFS, no it isn’t. It changes colour depending on - apparently - cloud cover. Mine will be miserable grey most of the time.

I have my phone with large text so I can see stuff without my glasses and the update has made it go all out of line and everything is cut off. It always used to be fine.

I was at my yard doing my horse this morning and went to see what the weather forecast was before deciding which rug to chuck on her but couldn’t get into it without clicking on loads of stuff. Service up there can be a bit patchy but the app usually works fine, except this morning. First world problems but why piss about with stuff that is perfectly fine.

@Springersrock thats exactly what I have my different locations for! 😍 it used to be so great. And it’s gone backwards as far as accessibility goes; how can that be in 2026??? I’d have accepted a few changes if that had improved.

I too want the hourly feels like temp back. Heap of shit!

It’s taken a couple days for me to get used to it, but I barely notice the differences now.
