Are you having enough fun in life?

I just watched something on tv that triggered this thought in me. It made me think I’m ’optimising’ so much of my life (trying to be healthier, happier, calmer etc), but I don’t know how often I’m having fun.
Feel a bit shocked that I haven’t prioritised this tbh.

Sadly no, thanks to my husband of 20 years running off with someone I have a new mortgage which I have another 3 years to pay off. Ungrateful swine, he had a great life with me and he said to me recently he wishes he's stayed because his life is shit now. So I blocked him on everything. He isn't coming back after turning my life upside down.
I'll get over it, I have a feeling I'm anaemic again, I pay for private iron transfusions because the pills don't work on me.I usually feel fine again 2 weeks after having one.

Fucker. Well done for blocking him. Let him fester in his misery - serves him right.

Fingers crossed you feel better soon with the right iron treatment x

What did tot watch? I feel like life is such a grind and the world is so backwards the fun moments are fleeting.

Hasn't it always been the case, since the dawn of time, that most of our time is spent working and looking after children, with only small moments of fun?

I think fun to - and for - myself… throw your head back laughing type fun… can’t think of when that last happened?!

I think that's the extreme end of fun though.

I find lots of things fun, bombing downhill on my bike, going out with friends, playing a board game with my family, building lego etc. Not throw my head back laughing fun, but that's not really something I've ever done, it usually takes a fair bit of alcohol before I can get that daft.

But I'd say its a rare day when I've not managed to have any fun at all.

I very often have fun at work, proper laugh out loud kind of fun, so I'm definitely having a good amount of fun on a weekly basis but not getting so much fun in my free time. But recently I played Jackbox while on a voice chat with a group of friends and that was so much fun, we hadn't played in a while and I had forgotten just how much fun it is, wish we could do it more often.

For me it’s spending time with friends & family so I prioritise that. We go on holiday with friends & family twice a year minimum & that involves lots of belly laughs.

My worry is I do quite a few of the things listed here but I wouldn’t say they tick the box of ‘fun’ for me. Perhaps I’m hard to please or a bit joyless.
The spontaneity point resonates with me. Definitely don’t have much of that.
I think my best times are when something is unexpectedly fun.

Me and my 17 year old son were in the car earlier and we both laughed out loud at something random together - that was fun, especially as he can be quite serious a lot of the time.

I have a nice job which is pretty fulfilling, not particularly stressful and it has quite a few fun moments too.

I went for a run today in the rain with a friend, even though it was dark and rainy it was fun to get out and just run and chat.

We have a 1 year old Labrador who is ALWAYS fun so gives us a lot of fun too.

On Saturday night my teenage daughter and I have planned a film and sushi night. Should be fun!!

Everyone’s idea of fun is different I guess. To me I guess fun just means nice experiences that stop life becoming too repetitive and boring.
