What’s your go-to meal deal selection?

For me, I LOVE the chicken club sandwich from Tesco, I usually try and pair it with a fruit pot (either Pink Lady apple slices, or pineapple chunks) and an apple juice if they have it, or Pepsi Max Cherry, or Dr Pepper.

I don’t get them often, I last had one a couple of weeks ago and before that, it was months ago! Although in the summer of 2024 I got a bit addicted to the chicken club and had 2-3 meal deals a week for about 2 months until one day I couldn’t stomach even the thought of it! But I like them again now, although not like the other year.

@Kibble19there was an article last week saying Tesco had announced that the egg pot is the most popular snack in their meal deal?!

There’s no way!

Crisps, chocolate, yoghurts, meat-based snacks, fruit pots, veggies to dip in hummus and a miserable boiled egg is most popular? That can’t be true. 😂

ABeerInTheSunshineMakesMeHappy · 14/01/2026 23:31

Cheese and onion (mayo) sandwich. Occasionally Prawn cocktail or tuna mayo. Cherry Pepsi max. Occasionally a smoothie. Snack varies a lot depending on how I feel at the time, so could be brownie slice, or crisps, or fruit tub.

That is one snack I never have (shudders)

EnchantingDaylight · 14/01/2026 23:32

Smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwich, salt and vinegar crisps (Discos if they have them) and diet coke, fizzy water if no diet coke available.

PurpleLovecats · 14/01/2026 23:33

Ooh I never have them as I don’t leave the house but years ago when I worked, M and S did a New York pastrami sandwich that was DIVINE!! I would choose that if they still do it with some fruit and a cherry coke!

lilybit2025 · 14/01/2026 23:34

BLT, prawn cocktail crisps or a sausage roll and some sort of coffee.

So many people choosing a cheese and onion sandwich. I'm appalled. I could only eat that toasted.

I thought I was a lonely freak cheese and onion lover - thrilled to have found my people 😂

Chicken Caesar salad, sushi snack, Starbucks coffee or a Diet Coke. £3.85 with Tesco Clubcard

WhatAnExcellentDayForAnExorcism · 15/01/2026 08:31

Cheese ploughman’s sub from the co op with salt and vinegar squares and a cherry coke.

CeeJay81 · 15/01/2026 09:11

Coop staff here. Southern fried chicken wrap, millionaire slice and a vimto or an innocent smoothie. I sometimes skip the meal deal and just get whatever reduced sandwhich/sushi etc is in the clearance bay. Had a new one the other day, an American Hot Wrap. Def recommend. Was rather yummy.

Favouritefruits · 15/01/2026 09:13

korean sushi, Pepsi Max lime and flamin’ hot monster munch

GameOfJones · 15/01/2026 09:17

Cheese and onion sandwich, Cool Original Doritos and a Lipton's Ice Tea (lemon preferably but I don't mind peach flavour.)

I haven't had one for months and months and now I really want a meal deal 🤣

Laiste · 15/01/2026 09:18

Been having a Tesco meal deal for lunch once a week when I visit the office for the past year. Only found out yesterday that the coffee from the Costa machine is included. £3.20 on it’s own and the meal deal was £3.85 (chicken salad sandwich + walkers baked ready salted). Bargain! And means I can still get my daily lunchtime coffee (only have instant at the office sadly).

Buscake · 15/01/2026 09:21

can’t get over how many people choose a cheese and onion sandwich!

I tend to go for some kind of chicken wrap, salt and vinegar squares and orangina/ribena

I have to say I'm surprised and I am one of those people choosing the cheese and onion sandwich.

I'm not a vegetarian but I find the "meat" in any of the chicken or bacon or other meaty sandwiches absolutely disgusting so I'll always choose a veggie meal deal.

SheilaFentiman · 15/01/2026 09:39

I like the egg pot

waitrose: salmon and grain salad, innocent smoothie, egg and spinach pot

anywhere else: chicken Caesar/bacon wrap, innocent smoothie, hula hoops

Cricketashes · 15/01/2026 09:45

I've never had one. I don't like the thought of how long they may have been sitting there. I actually have no idea but it always plays on my mind. I always go for something freshly made.

The sandwiches have a shelf life of same day or next day, usually. I would rely more on a supermarket to keep a cold chain intact than a “local” sandwich bar.

There have been incidents in the news with them recalling some because of bacteria and food poisoning and I can't get that out of my head
