Ultra-moisturising magical cream urgently needed

HelpMyUnderEyeArea · 14/01/2026 09:29

My eyelids and under-eye area has become so dry recently - I wake up and it’s all tight! My usual day/night creams don’t seem to be managing. Please recommend a luxurious, rich, moisturising magical cream before the area shrivels into dust!! Thank you!

Nivea blue crème. There's a reason it's been around so long.

Blueyandbingox · 14/01/2026 09:42

I like Kiehls stuff, either the ultra facial cream or the under eye cream

Never even thought of that! And so cheap!

Vaseline!

Hoolahoophop · 14/01/2026 09:45

I like nivea soft, its so silky. I was bought some Elemis pro collagen marine for Christmas it smells lovely but not sure it does anything more than the nivea and I am reluctant to put much on as I now its expensive!

zurigo · 14/01/2026 09:46

Be careful using ultra-rich creams or things like Vaseline around your eyes. It may be okay, but the skin around your eyes is very thin and delicate and mine certainly doesn't respond well to having rich stuff put on it. It becomes puffy and the pores easily get blocked. That's why there are specific eye creams and serums on the market.

Ihateboris · 14/01/2026 09:47

I use castor oil which i mix with almond oil as it's very thick on it's own. It's extremely moisturising!

JacknDiane · 14/01/2026 09:48

I recently got a free sample of estee lauder eye cream and its lovely

Icecreamandcoffee · 14/01/2026 09:51

Another vote for the Kiehl's or the Nivea soft. If it's really dry I also use a high shea content cream and find that works. I've got some Shea alchemy eye cream and it is fantastic.

Blue pot original Nivea is great, Astral even better imo. Got a huge tub from Tesco, use it all over, costs about six quid. Much prefer it to my expensive Clarins moisturiser. If it’s good enough for Joanna Lumley…

minipie · 14/01/2026 10:19

Pricey but Avene Cicalfate is really good for delicate skin that gets dry especially in weather changes, DD has skin like this and it’s done wonders.

ignatiusjreilly · 14/01/2026 10:19

I second the Nivea suggestion (or Boots' Cucumber Cream if you find Nivea too perfumed) and also recommend using Marula Oil before you apply cream. Superdrug's is great and should last you about 6 months (£10).

It feels so comforting and moisturising. I have sensitive skin and have to be very careful what I use but Marula Oil doesn't cause me any problems.

Hoolahoophop · 14/01/2026 10:24

@ignatiusjreilly what does Marula Oil do? I have been using up a gifted The Ordinary set. I have a lovely moisturizer and a serum. I quite like using the serum for the routine and it feels like I am doing more that slapping on some face cream. But I have no idea what it is actually supposed to do, or which of the many on offer I would buy to replace it with!

I don't wear makeup except for special occasions and only started with a regular face cream when I hit 40.

EverythingIsComputer · 14/01/2026 10:25

Kiehl’s avocado or LRP Cicaplast

statetrooperstacey · 14/01/2026 10:29

Absolutely astral! Massive tub for about £5 . Amazing stuff.

Tutorpuzzle · 14/01/2026 10:38

Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream…the only one I’ve found that my very dry skin doesn’t react to.

ignatiusjreilly · 14/01/2026 10:50

@Hoolahoophop It's a moisturiser (a humectant, similar to hyaluronic acid but I find that does nothing for me).

In the warmer months I often don't need cream as well, but at this time of year I need both (I'm late 40s).

I find the new Nivea Repair & Care is the richest of all the Niveas and is brilliant

Andrasa · 14/01/2026 12:28

Sounds a bit mad, but the aveeno sensitive baby oat stuff has been amazing for me, it’s super moisturising without feeling heavy.

I second Avene Cicalfate - and it's cheaper than Kiehls (although more than Nivea).

Wow, thanks so much to all! I have a lot to plough through. The trouble is with the pricier options is you don’t know if they’re any good (for yourself) until you’ve forked out the money…shame you can’t buy little testers like with paint!

I was given a pricier one for Christmas, the full sized one was about sample size in my opinion. Huge pot, heavy glass, practically no actual cream!

Pricey but incredible. Worth searching in various websites for best price. Murad (green coloured cream) intense recovery cream,
