I get bottoms from here. The tops don't work for me, I need proper scaffolding, but the bottoms are great.

Expensive but really nice swimsuits from the brand Fantasie. Look out for the sales. Depending on your body type, I’m a 12-14 size and don’t have a completely flat tummy after having 2 kids, I find the printed high waisted bikini’s work well. And if you are well endowed then underwire bikini tops. I bought my first bikini two years ago and haven’t looked back since!

BarbieBrightSide · 12/01/2026 07:38

With a mum tum I feel your pain!

I got some bikinis from Amazon last year and they were great and not expensive. I was also surprisingly happy with the amount of support (I'm an F cup.

M&S have some good options and some good reductions on branded items

It's also worth remembering that it's not necessary for it to match - you could get some plain bottoms and a patterned bikini top or tankini for example.

For 18 months I'd say go and they can do regular visits, there are lots of jobs that take people away

MrsBridgetMcClusky · 12/01/2026 13:10

I'd second Pour Moi. Love their swimwear

Added in error 😆

Mine was from JD Williams. I think it might actually be Joe Browns brand. I bought both the bikini top and the tankini top, as well as the belly-button covering bikini bottoms and the skort option. I figured that gave me loads of options. Sadly I didn’t find it until after my beach holiday but there’s always next summer!

TheWeeDonkeyFella · 12/01/2026 13:34

Another vote for checking out Matalan when the summer stock starts arriving. I got a great tankini 3 piece set last year, really good quality with high waisted bottoms, high waisted skirt bottoms and tankini top for under £35 from memory when they had a offer on. They had mix and match items so you would have the choice of a regular bikini top instead of tankini if you prefer.

Edited to add, just clicked into the pic above and that's the tankini I purchased! With an additional skirt bottoms. Looked and felt far more expensive than it was

Purlant · 12/01/2026 13:36

I like high waisted, but most also seem to be high leg. Does anyone have any recommendations for ones that come up to just under the belly button, but are low cut around the leg?

PTown · 12/01/2026 14:04

I’ve found the bikini bottoms from Land’s End do the trick for me. I don’t tend to like their bikini tops, so I bought bottoms in navy and black, which I pair with tops from H&M or other shops. They also have decent bum coverage, as I feel I’m too old for the current trend of barely covered bum cheeks.

Favouritefruits · 12/01/2026 14:24

I think you need to go and try one on before buying online, I really wanted high waisted bikini bottoms and expectations versus reality was ridiculous! I looked like I’d just bought huge oversized granny pants it definitely wasn’t the look I was going for 🤣

samlovesdilys · 12/01/2026 14:46

Pour moi are always good but I’ve also got a few from Next which are really good

the80sweregreat · 12/01/2026 14:49

I bought a few from simply be and jd William’s online.
I also have a ‘ skort ‘ which is great.

JDM625 · 12/01/2026 15:00

A 3rd vote for the matalan tankini and high waisted bottoms. You can mix and match and they are such a great price. They also used to do a skirted bottoms, bikini bottom and a regular bikini top, in various colours. Likely more stock when it gets warmer.

For anyone with a large chest (I'm 38G) that tankini is the only non-wired swim wear I own that is supportive! Its also flattering on the tummy. I love that it looks like a one piece when on, but has the convenience of being a two piece.

LancreWowhawk · 12/01/2026 15:27

I also look much better in high waisted bottoms, but I need decent scaffolding up top too. I've found that cheaper bikinis just look terrible on me, which is both unfortunate and disappointing.

Once I got over it, I got several really great ones from Fantasie and Freya. I feel really good in them.

CapabilityBrownsHaHa · 12/01/2026 15:34

The Hanna Nikole brand on Amazon is good for coverage bikinis, but be aware they are mostly plus-sized and use US sizing. Very good bottom coverage, non-budge tops if you want to do some proper swimming. Usually tons of colour options when the full range is in stock. I've lost a bit of weight, and have sized out (never thought I'd say that!), and will miss going through their options this year.

That Hunza g linked in PP are high waisted and says high leg, not sure if they are mix and match twixt bottoms/tops though, they look very nice, at that price point I expect they are well cut

CalzoneOnLegs · 12/01/2026 15:56

@CharlotteSometimeslikesanafternoonnap they are so fun, I love retro designs / prints

Aaah sorry I misread your post - you probably would prefer the shorts type bottoms - once again sorry

FlappicusSmith · 12/01/2026 18:17

I have one that I bought from M&S several years ago. It's my fave bikini. They don't have the exact one anymore, but lots of high-waisted bottom options available from them!
