Maybe supporting Trump isn't a patrioc thing to do anymore?

For now

Trumps really angry with Norway so he threatens Greenland/Denmark.

Yeah - always makes sense ha! But it may he’s particularly cross as Norway was one of the 8 who signed the letter about it.
I think you have to try quite hard to piss Norway off to the point they take action - orange blob may see it as a challenge.
Generally though every thing/one that annoys him, even slightly, becomes something to destroy- worrying always, but it’s also so exaggerated now.

Thank god - I think Farage might do his best if he was in power to play this all down, try to be US aligned and pretend Britain is not actually on the European continent.
But it’s an exceptionally hard thing to argue now in the U.K. - unless we want to be one of the new states the orange one seems to want to collect. It would also throw Ukraine into question, which I think is generally supported - though I’m not sure Reform actually do so much.
Tiny Tom is organising some March in May - last time he platformed Musk and I think he strongly supports him over Twitter - however, whilst there was that Musk/Trump parting I see Musk generally likes Trump work - hoping it might reduce support for this March then - probably a bit in vain but just maybe.

Tice on LBC. Farage still in hiding?

Tice has just said he hopes Nigel "has a chance to bump into Trump" at Davos. But I thought they were big mates 🤣

BIossomtoes · 19/01/2026 19:07

Maybe Trump would rather deal with the organ grinder …

Farage did some thing at lunchtime introducing his latest defector but it was all [rightly] lost in the furore about Greenland

I'm struggling to get a direct flight to Rome from the UK on my day of choice. Seems that flights to anywhere in the EU are restricted to certain days only if you fly from the UK.

placemats · 19/01/2026 19:13

God can we stop talking about bloody Reformist and Tramps?

Please for my sanity.

placemats · 19/01/2026 19:15

Went to see Hamnet yesterday and loved it. Deserves all the awards.

LlynTegid · 19/01/2026 16:25

I think he will either delay imposition or do it for a limited range of goods.

Yes possible.

There doesn't sem to be much news about Iran. Trump is such a bastard, giving the Iranian people hope and then doing sweet FA to help them. God knows what is happening to them now.

Sorry Placemats! Hamnet. I am glad you enjoyed it. Jessie Buckley is getting heaps of praise.

DuncinToffee · 19/01/2026 19:49

Times is reporting that the government is poised to launch a consultation into social media restrictions on teenagers.

🤔

Have I missed something?

LlttledrummergirI · 19/01/2026 20:11

When we were in Italy last year, we contemplated extending our holiday and going onto the uefa final in Bilboa.

We couldn't get direct flights from either Naples or Rome, and even indirect flights wouldn't get us there in less than 2 days. It was nuts.

Maybe a 100 posts back. I'll get it sorted. Can't book anything until we have our flights.to Rome.

Taormina is our choice and Rome for two nights plus overnight train to Sicily from Rome.

Just to update.

Eta thanks @BIWI for the heads up.

Trump doesn't like Starmer standing up to him, hence his Chagos tantrum.

OP posts:
BIossomtoes · 20/01/2026 08:47

Is it today that Farage is going to reveal the identity of his Labour big beast defector?

PickAChew · 20/01/2026 08:51

And the BBC didn't last long. Today they're insisting the Chagos tantrum is embarrassing for Starmer. Not entirely surprising, as the tories are opposed to the deal so it must be wrong.

It's extremely unlikely. But I would so love it to be Mandleson.

DuncinToffee · 20/01/2026 09:01

Mason is more Farage's mouth piece these days.

Political unity blown out of the water by Trumps latest outburst over Chagos...

a deal first brokered by Cameron.... & the deal supported by the current US administration at the time, just last year.

PandoraSocks · 20/01/2026 09:23

A nice precis of Trump's ravings:

It seems like the US president, Donald Trump, has had a busy evening US time with his phone in his hand.

Overnight, he:

Attacked the UK, mockingly calling it a “brilliant” ally, for “shocking” plan to hand over sovereignity of the Chagos islands to Mauritius (despite previous US support), saying it’s among a “long line” of reasons why Greenland “has to be acquired”

Leaked private text messages from France’s Emmanuel Macron and Nato’s Mark Rutte discussing his latest policy moves

Threatened France with 200% tariffs on French wine and champagne over Macron’s refusal to join the Gaza “board of peace”, said of Macron that “nobody wants him because he’s going to be out of office very soon”

Reiterated his intention of taking over Greenland as “imperative for national and world security,” saying “there can be no going back”

Posted an AI generated visual of himself planting the US flag on Greenland, saying it’s “US territory, est. 2026,” days after the US delegation agreed with Danish foreign minister for talks to be conducted behind closed doors, and not through threatening messages on social media. (Guardian).

🦇💩

Hopefully Starmer will just ignore him, as you would a tantrumming toddler in Tesco.
