Sorry to spoil the NHS love fest
I'm afraid I have less impressive tales of the NHS. The more you use it the more you have to accept and navigate it's jaw dropping incompetence and inability to actually treat anything. I can point to about £50,000 of waste in the case of one individual patient. And none of her stories are that rare. So simple proportion suggests there is plenty of scope for savings.
The actual clinical staff are saints to a person - they cannot be faulted. But the system they are part of is fatally fucked.
Although I guess the one clinical failure I know of - a friends sister being repeated sent home from A&E with "constipation" only to die from an ectopic pregnancy probably makes up for a lot.
Even I know that any woman of child bearing age (plus a bit either side) should always be tested for pregnancy as a matter of course. Something which clearly wasn't taught to the 3 separate doctors who came to the same wrong diagnosis and never did a pregnancy test.
