Bottomless pit children rant

This is lighthearted before anyone thinks I am really moaning.

My boys are 7 and nearly 5. They never stop being hungry. Both are tall for their age but skinny and very robust. Today they both had a huge bowl of porridge with fruit, nut butter and flaxseed in it, a mid-morning snack cheese, nuts and an apple, then a substantial lunch of homemade lentil and bean soup and 2 slices of toast, fruit. Then we went to soft play where they had a small chocolate bar and a drink. Then at home they had some oatcakes and another apple, then they've just had dinner of 3 fish fingers, a huge pile of new potatoes, peas and green beans and then a bowl of grewk yoghurt and banana. And my nearly 5 year old is still hungry!!!! He eats more than me, God help me when they are teenagers!!

Maybe have a look at first steps nutrition portion size guides. X

Honestly I worry about them under eating. They are both under 50th centiles and takes them 6 months extra to get into clothing for their age group.

I also eat tons but am a size 6/8. I think it’s just a hereditary fast metabolism. Both super go go go kids

Give them some toast or crumpets.

OP instead of fish fingers why not try them on salmon fillets - so easy to bake in oven. More substantial than fish fingers (which I would class as a lunch food rather than a decent dinner).

And jacket potatoes with cheese or wedges with the skin on, instead of new potatoes? With filling veg like steamed carrots. Just some ideas.

Im making my own breaded fish for them tonight with potatoe wedges, carrots, broccoli and peas. I always have to have dinner ready by 16.30 otherwise they turn into vicious little gremlins

Not sure what MN loves more, threads about teeny tiny adult women who eat like birds or threads about insatiable sons who never stop eating.

Sad I can't join in as my own son is a noodle in human form who eats tiny portions 😞

If you’re a mum with one (or more) of those children you spend a lot of time and energy thinking about how to feed them, so I’m not surprised the topic sparks interest.
