We all know MN loves a let's hang out the laundry outside thread, but would you do it today?
I'm working my way through all the bedlinen so there will be a few loads of laundry hanging about...

Currently bright blue skies and sunshine but here it is -3° with a feels like -7° factor.
Is there any point?
What's the scientific take on this oh wise ones?

I wasn't here, but judging from how dry today's load is, DH hung it out for a bit. It's totally dry now.

It's to do with the moisture content of the air, not the temperature. Otherwise you couldn't freeze dry stuff like milk.

Not as cold today but because there's no sun, it feels much colder. However there is a breeze. Fortified by this thread I had the washing out before 8am 🤗

I've got a towel wash on and it will be out on the line too @mikado1 😊
It's very bright and sunny here but still really cold.

Ive got a tumble dryer.

So do most of us I'm sure. We're trying to avoid using it for a variety of reasons I'm sure.

My washing would dry in the winter. Even in the wind.

Raisondeetre · 06/01/2026 10:14

Wouldn’t dry !

I dont avoid using mine.
From the machine to the tumble, washed dryed packed away.

Mine was out for about three hours yesterday (wasn't sure what time I'd be back later. Tablecloth 100% dry, everything else about 75% dry, so worth putting out for me.
