One of my New Year’s resolutions is to eat every shape of pasta in 2026.

What’s your favourite shape?

Mine is rigatoni.

Spirali. It's so fabulously boingy. Love the twisty feeling in my mouth.

This is a great question and one I have spent much time considering. Despite this, I cannot give you an answer. I love them all so very much!

Lumache used to be a lot easier to come by when I was young I like that a lot. I also like cappaletti with a good mushroom sauce. Also a fan of bucatini, spaghetti, orzo, the standard always in the cupboard pasta here is tricolore fusilli.
I'll be honest there isn't really a pasta I won't eat. (Farfalle definitely at the bottom of the list though)

My husband gets his Italian pasta either from Amazon or the Italian Shop. The latter has lumache, just in case you’re looking.

Thanks that's a wealth of pasta and very reasonable too!

Everything we’ve ever bought from them has been pretty well-packaged, so the pasta didn’t break into pieces or crumble.

Penne or linguine for long. Did once have an incredible pasta in Italy, it was like a really thick spaghetti. Found it in a shop to buy but was hand luggage only and had no spare space 😭 and now I can’t remember what it’s called, it’s not got a hole in the middle, it was solid and al dente and had the most amazing sauce. My god I still daydream about that pasta…

It might be spaghettone?

justgottadoit · 04/01/2026 19:52

My dear Mum once brought back some penis shaped pasta from Rome as a present for me (she didn’t notice the shape 🤣). Can’t say it was my favourite, but it was certainly entertaining!

mathanxiety · 04/01/2026 19:59

Fettuccine and bucatini.

Rituelec · 04/01/2026 20:00

Rigatoni

ThePoshUns · 04/01/2026 20:01

Linguine or shells

CheesyP · 04/01/2026 20:04

Rigatoni with cheese.

mindutopia · 04/01/2026 20:05

Rigatoni, especially the bronze die cut sort.

I love them all but I just wanted to say that I was boiling those tubey ones a few weeks ago, and took one out to check if it was done.

I don’t know how I managed this but I let it cool for a minute and put it into my mouth but the inside was still full of boiling water and it shot back and burnt my throat. It was the sorest thing ever. It’s one thing burning your tongue but my throat, omg I will never ever make that mistake again.

Can’t believe there’s so much hate for farfalle, I love them! They’re butterflies btw, not bows…

TangerinePlate · 04/01/2026 21:01

Bucatini for me

I once blistered my lip that way. Spent like three days explaining it wasn't a massive cold sore.

I like orecchiette; somehow the shape of them makes me eat them individually rather than shovelling them in (which I would do with all the others)

pinkpony88 · 04/01/2026 23:05

All of them except spaghetti but I do love the texture of orzo 😍
