Anyone on their own tonight?

TheSparklyShoe · 31/12/2025 16:03

Just me tonight and my youngest (non verbal/ASD) Looking back at photos of this time last year where me, DH and both kids had a buffet and we all watched films together. Now we are separated and it’s just me and DS.

Just went for a long walk in the woods with DS, he had an ice cream 🥶 and tonight I’ll watch the BBC Christmas ghost story and eat party food! I’ll probably be in bed at 10 😴

What is everyone else doing?

I’m on my own because my partner is off out DJing. We will have a nice dinner that he’s currently cooking before he leaves. I couldn’t be happier about this. I’m going to watch a film and then scowl at the fireworks from the lounge window.

Yellowsubmarineunderthesea · 31/12/2025 17:48

I wish I was on my own tbh but I have to stay up and pretend to be jovial. Its just another evening in my mind. I do enjoy tomorrow and the start of a new year but tonight - meh 🙄. My siblings all concerned my mother will be on her own if we don't party with her so I've agreed to keep the peace and go. I do love a party other times if year but this forced joviality brings me down

NeedForSpeedyGonzales · 31/12/2025 17:50

Husband is deployed. I'm going to pop to the neighbour in a bit for a cocktail, but I'm exhausted after no sleep last night due to the power company digging up the street for hours (emergency works), so I'll be in bed by about 9 😂

I'll watch the Stranger Things finale with breakfast tomorrow.

ETA I'm quite happy on my own, no need to entertain other people when I can't be arsed!

Me, I do have my dog though.I've just had a frozen dinner, which was quite nice actually. I think that I've probably finished off all the chocolate. Will the Christmas Ghost Story be too scary though?

I am on my own. Wife died earlier this year, dog died earlier this month.

I met wife late in life, so lived on my own for 27 years before we moved in together. So, in a way, being on my own is fine. Doesn't bother me, and in some ways, I prefer it. That said, I wish both she, and the dog were here, as they were the only people I would want to share it with. I have gin and tonic, and am about to cook dinner, watch some shit film, and probably be in bed by 10pm.

Happy New Year to you all.

I'm really sorry to hear about your losses. I cannot imagine what you must be going through. I hope 2026 brings you new opportunities for happiness.

I’m on my own. I find nye horribly depressing anyway so I’ll be ignoring it

I’m in Scotland, where sometimes it feels like everybody else is having fun at Hogmanay but I don’t really mind - I’ve been in on my own every year for the last thirty years so I should be used to it! I used to watch Jools Holland before I discovered it was pre-recorded. I’m planning a nice long bath and my new book. Some yoga before bed.

LastSatsuma · 31/12/2025 18:29

I’m just at home, with autistic son, so not technically alone but I might as well be. He doesn’t really speak to me, and can’t tolerate being in the same room as me. It’s a lonely life on normal days. Christmas and New Year makes it feel more intense.

Ileithyia · 31/12/2025 18:43

Just me and the dog, autistic 19 yr old has gone to her friends house for a ‘gathering’ that will likely end up in Wetherspoons*.

Who wants to play ‘what time will she message me to go pick her up?’

*she doesn’t like noisy pubs full of drunk people.

TheeNotoriousPIG · 31/12/2025 18:47

I have prepared for the occasion by buying an XL bar of plain Galaxy chocolate. I plan to consume at least half of it in between dinner, going back to the farm to check on the livestock (i.e. make sure everyone is in the right place, alive, and preferably tickety-boo!), the rest of the Call the Midwife Christmas special, and bed! Then I shall be up again early in the morning to milk cows 😊

Happy New Year, all!

xSideshowAuntSallyXx · 31/12/2025 18:50

Don't really do NYE, can't remember the last time I did something on NYE (ex used to work nights so I never did anything when I was with him).

I'll watch Brokenwood Mysteries and be in bed and asleep by 11pm, only to be woken up by fireworks at midnight.

Will go to the gym tomorrow and may go to Next and have a look at cushions. Hoping it is quiet as everyone will be nursing hangovers.

IsThisLifeNow · 31/12/2025 18:51

Sort of. Currently at work, I have a nice coworker around, but we are both really busy, (currently on a short break) so not working in the same room. After I finish, hopefully by 9pm, I will be going home to have a snack and then to bed. Again technically not alone, but very much so. Currently living with STBExH, so he'll be in the house and our 2 young children will already be asleep, but I wish he wasn't there. Its all so painful, separate bedrooms luckily, but 2025 has been a shit year, I cant wait for it be over!

Yeah, my partner of 18 years chose today to break up with me

Ooof! Sorry to hear that, he couldn't have waited a couple of days? In the longer term you've probably dodged a bullet, hope you're OK and have some support.
Just me and the cat, have taken inspiration from some of you and going to run a bath and watch Stranger Things.
For some reason Ive been feeling a bit sorry for myself this year but decided to embrace it tonight.

I know it doesn't feel like it right now, but honestly, your life is going to be so much better without someone capable of this in it.

Order your favourite takeaway and a giant tub of Ben and Jerry's and forget this arsehole.

Dollybantree · 31/12/2025 19:04

To those of you struggling or with sick dc’s etc - I wish you well, warm hugs and prayers.

We all have our crosses to bear, but some are much heavier than others and you’re amazing xx

Happy New Year ❤️

Flicitytricity · 31/12/2025 19:14

I'm currently reconciling myself to a solo evening, despite the build up to a lovely night out with friends😏
DH died a couple if years ago, so last Xmas and new year was a wash out.
This New Year, 2 friends and I had a wine bar booked for food and cocktails, but one friend had covid and feels crap and other friend has had a better offer.
So, I'm a bottle of wine, a HUUUUGE bar of Dairy Milk Biscoff and several bags of salt and vinegar crisps in.
Will no doubt be in bed at 8 - not used to drinking😅- but still feeling hard done by and thoroughly enjoying my pity party😁
Well, I'm not. But you know what I mean.

Happy New Year everyone🍾

Sorry you didn’t get to go out but your evening doesn’t sound too bad at all! Enjoy your wine, crisps and chocolate 🍫 I can definitely think of worse ways to spend an evening!
