Called into our local Iceland this dark and frosty December morning only to be faced with Easter eggs and chocolate bunnies!

Don't know why I was so surprised really but flipping heck, we're still eating mince pies.

I know, there was a thread before Christmas about the same thing. Bonkers, isn't it?

BeforeSigourneyWeaverTheyWoveTheirOwnSigourneys · 31/12/2025 14:51

On christmas day at about 6pm I got 2 emails from 2 separate companies about valentines day 🤣

And Home bargains was full of valentines PJs and whatnot a couple of days ago too.

It makes me laugh.

Just goes to show religion is nothing more than a front for commercialism.

Meh I would rather have an Easter egg than a mince pie to be fair. Next already has valentines pjs out.

Or that commercial greed has hijacked religion.

I bought a crème egg this morning. Felt illegal.

AgnesMcDoo · 31/12/2025 15:13

Ours are focused on steak pie and fireworks for Hogmanay.

Easter can will till the 1st

PorkPieForStarters · 31/12/2025 15:15

Tucking into my first bag of mini eggs as we speak!

Niftythrifter · 31/12/2025 16:02

The Cadbury outlet I visited recently, had 1KG of Mini Eggs in!

Jesus christ

I hate it. I really hate it. And it will be illegal once I'm dictator.

Jesus christ

Exactly, poor sod has barely been born and we’re already nailing him to the cross !! Don’t think the 3 Wise Men have even visited him yet !!

And some of those Easter bunnies are probably re-wrapped reindeer.

Since when has MN cared so much about religion? It’s usually dismissed as “fairy tales”, God is an “imaginary friend” etc.

@EtonMessy That made me laugh, Jesus has only just been born and now we’re nailing him up.

Cheereepee · 31/12/2025 17:21

We're such a sucker for it all, every single event is ruined by commercialism because as soon as the event arrives, it's snatched away and we're told to concentrate on the next one.

No wonder we're all stressed, over stimulated and depressed!!!

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 31/12/2025 17:23

I saw Cadburys Mini Eggs in WH Smith yesterday. Aren’t they on sale year round? Oh and please bring back the Galaxy mini eggs the old enchanted rose gold eggs.

Itsmetheflamingo · 31/12/2025 17:26

What I don’t get out this is who actually buys them in any volume in January and February? Easter eggs aren’t nice, so if it’s chocolate you’re after surely you just buy chocolate. And no one would give it as a gift before Easter

ScorchingEgg · 31/12/2025 18:15

Easter eggs are my favourite chocolate so I’m not unhappy about this

Munchyseeds2 · 31/12/2025 18:20

Tesco were putting them out on Christmas Eve

BaronessEllarawrosaurus · 31/12/2025 18:27

We have started putting them out because they go on the seasonal chocolate aisle and no one is buying selection boxes etc now, plus we are low on that stock. Either we start putting out Easter eggs or we have empty shelves.

SnugglyJumpersMakeItBetter · 31/12/2025 18:32

Are there really people who buy themselves Easter eggs and eat them throughout January, February and March? Surely then come Easter you just think 'Oh, right, another one...' when you crack open your official egg, rather than, 'Yay, my favourite!'? I just don't understand it.

QuornToBeWild · 31/12/2025 18:35

They were in some shops before Xmas. It’s the same every year.
