Hop to it - Easter eggs in the shops!

Called into our local Iceland this dark and frosty December morning only to be faced with Easter eggs and chocolate bunnies!

Don't know why I was so surprised really but flipping heck, we're still eating mince pies.

I know, there was a thread before Christmas about the same thing. Bonkers, isn't it?

On christmas day at about 6pm I got 2 emails from 2 separate companies about valentines day 🤣

And Home bargains was full of valentines PJs and whatnot a couple of days ago too.

It makes me laugh.

Just goes to show religion is nothing more than a front for commercialism.

Meh I would rather have an Easter egg than a mince pie to be fair. Next already has valentines pjs out.

Or that commercial greed has hijacked religion.

I bought a crème egg this morning. Felt illegal.

Ours are focused on steak pie and fireworks for Hogmanay.

The Cadbury outlet I visited recently,had 1KG of Mini Eggs in!

Since when has MN cared so much about religion? It’s usually dismissed as “fairy tales”, God is an “imaginary friend” etc.

@EtonMessy That made me laugh, Jesus has only just been born and now we’re nailing him up.

We're such a sucker for it all, every single event is ruined by commercialism because as soon as the event arrives, it's snatched away and we're told to concentrate on the next one.

No wonder we're all stressed, over stimulated and depressed!!!

I saw Cadburys Mini Eggs in WH Smith yesterday. Aren’t they on sale year round? Oh and please bring back the Galaxy mini eggs the old enchanted rose gold eggs.

What I don’t get out this is who actually buys them in any volume in January and February? Easter eggs aren’t nice, so if it’s chocolate you’re after surely you just buy chocolate. And no one would give it as a gift before Easter

Easter eggs are my favourite chocolate so I’m not unhappy about this

Tesco were putting them out on Christmas Eve

We have started putting them out because they go on the seasonal chocolate aisle and no one is buying selection boxes etc now, plus we are low on that stock. Either we start putting out Easter eggs or we have empty shelves.

I have been munching them before Mary was having twinges 🫣

Are there really people who buy themselves Easter eggs and eat them throughout January, February and March? Surely then come Easter you just think 'Oh, right, another one...' when you crack open your official egg, rather than, 'Yay, my favourite!'? I just don't understand it.

They were in some shops before Xmas. It’s the same every year.
