The Americans - on Disney. I can't believe so few people I've spoken to have watched it. As far as I'm concerned, it's in the same class of quality as Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Sopranos, Succession, etc (my other favourites) yet few have heard of it. It's about 2 Russian sleeper spies masquerading as Americans in the 80s.

I recommend The Americans to everyone. It was incredibly good and had a proper ending which is such a plus point.

Buscobel · 31/12/2025 09:13

Some very very old stuff that you’ve probably not heard of, but was great years ago.

I heartily agree with this! The Americans is an amazing series, so many great performances, a quality item!

I love BB and BCS and TV has been so dire this Christmas that I have just joined Disney so I can watch it. Hope it's as good as you say!

RyanFudgingMurphy · 31/12/2025 09:59

I love Will Trent! His chihuahua is so cute!

Stranger Things for me. The first season was near perfect TV. Still a fan though Season 5 has got so convoluted and some of the relationships don’t make sense, but I’m in “completist” mode now, so need to finish it. The first season reminded me of my childhood (though it was set later that ST) where parents had to be reminded where their kids were and there were no mobile phones.

I’d like to see Ugly Betty again, and ER!

Lost - in the hope I may work out what happened.

Fawlty Towers, just love it.

Edited

I watched Lost last year after watching the first few seasons back in the day. Now I’m watching it again, which will probably just be a perpetual project as I can’t see me bingeing episodes this time.

I think I just love the ensemble and the 90s-ness of it. A massive, prime time show that isn’t full of effing and jeffing and graphic violence is unheard of now, and it might be soft but I really like how it could tell its story without all that.

The ending gets a hard time but I loved it so much I watched it twice 😂
