I have 2. First is my coffee machine. It grinds the beans, so I can have a freshly brewed coffee each morning. I love it!
Second one is a prize from postcode lottery. It's a rechargeable hot water bottle, and it's been a game changer! Especially useful for when I'm cold watching DS play rugby....

I’ve reported you.

For what, exactly?

Iocanepowder · 01/01/2026 22:32

Thank you ❤️

@Christmasmirraclee There are quite a large number of posts in this thread saying some sort of private medical procedure was their best purchase. Is it because I am near the top of the thread and you couldn’t wait to read the whole thread that you wanted to a be a dick to someone?

Ignore them Iocanepowder

Some people are very sad and bitter and you just have to feel sorry for them really.

Really hope baby is well now xx

I’ve reported you.

The irony of that poster thinking you were ruining the tone of the thread!
I hope your daughter is doing well 💐

@Dollybantree depending on your budget highly recommend the Magimix stainless steel and glass steamer as it’s super quick and should last for many years. We’ve used ours daily for 7 years and as it’s glass and stainless steel there have been no issues with it. We’ve also had the plastic ones in the past but eventually the steaming plates get brittle and split. However if you’re not sure whether or not you would use it much then a basic plastic one would certainly be fine to start with - we’d had c3 plastic ones before we bought the Magimix one.

Edited

We have had a stainless steel steamer for about thirty years and it’s still going strong.

Tickets for New Scientist Live. It was an amazing show and we'll be going again in 2026.

Our rescue chickens. I love them.

An expensive (for me) raincoat from Seasalt. It is fully waterproof with a hood that protrudes enough to keep my face (and glasses) dry.

New Scientist Live you say? I’m a retired scientist and never heard of this. But I’m checking it out now. Thank you x

AHH my left hip being done in March so I'll have a matching pair. 🤩

How can I help

How bad was the pain and how long til you went to the GP seeking help?
Time frame from seeing the GP to referral to Orthopaedics, xrays, pre-operative faffing?
Post-op pain level, time spent before discharge home?
Any follow up, at-home care from the Practice Nurse , wound checks etcetera.

My hip suddenly started hurting two months ago; I was a very sporty girl, lots of running and high jumping so am not really surprised
Thank you!

I'm quite tempted with the Robomops, but very concerned that DDog will chase and try and attack it....

Just got one and v reactive DDog just hides! Effy the Eufy is very quick so usually shut DDog in somewhere to be safe Smile

Knock off mounjaro. Which I’d discovered it a year before I did. I’d have saved £1800 which I could have put towards a boob job

I presume that this is meant to be some sort of joke?

National Trust membership, we have had a lovely year visiting beautiful gardens.

Libby App, free through local library, gives access to so many magazines online.

Imperial leather shower foam, so much nicer and a lot cheaper than rituals.

My emus. Like Uggs but wider so they actually fit me
My robomop. A clean kitchen floor at the touch of a button.
A dual electric blanket. Means I can actually have an electric blanket again as DH just doesn’t turn his side on.
Waterproof trainers. On the few occasions I have been out for a run this winter, they have made such a difference.
£££ sunglasses. Knowing how expensive they were, I pay much more attention to where I am putting them and haven’t lost them yet. I got them in May so that’s good going for me. If I hold onto them for another few years (hollow laugh) I’ll be able to properly justify the cost of them. In the meantime, I enjoy wearing them and think they look fabulous.
Champagne. I’ve realised it’s one of the very few drinks I can have more than a couple of glasses of and feel fine the next day. I am rarely in a situation where I
might drink more than a couple of glasses so it’s not as extravagant as it sounds.

Last year’s hits (walking boots &
toaster tongs) continue to be well
used & much loved.

Hi, can you please tell me more about this Robomop? Which brand please and does it leave the floor not too wet? Thank you!

Getting air conditioning fitted in our bedroom, life changing. (Can be used to heat the room quickly as well as cool, so it’s been amazing year round!)

Also love my new car, newest car I’ve owned and every day I get in it and find a new gadget which I love and changes my life 🤣

On the less expensive end of the scale I replaced my saucepans after the panorama episode on plastics etc and can’t believe how much they’ve improved my cooking and clearing up experience! Actually don’t stick and wash up really easily.

Interested to hear which pans you chose if you dont mind sharing?
I need to replace mine but find the options overwhelming...
Thanks!
